While it wasn’t directly behind the murders that Persona 4 Golden’s story is centered around, the true big bad of the game is Ameno-Sagiri. Players will need to take down the giant eyeball in order to lock up any of the game’s good endings.

Ameno-Sagiri represents the final boss for many Persona 4 Golden players’ playthroughs. The creator of the fog that shrouds Inaba is the final challenge of the Magatsu Inaba and Magatsu Mandala dungeon. Players need to face it right after taking down the man behind the murders of Saki Konishi and Mayumi Yamano, Tohru Adachi.

This one-two punch of bosses can be challenging to some players, but these fights are winnable even if the player isn’t maxed out on levels. Here’s how to defeat both Adachi and Ameno-Sagiri in Persona 4 Golden.

How to Beat Adachi

Players can defeat Adachi by balancing offense with protection against the Fear status effect. An over-leveled party can defeat him without any trouble, but players who aren’t over-leveled will have to be a bit strategic.

Adachi’s biggest strength is controlling stat boosts. He has access to the move Heat Riser to boost his own attack, and will regularly use Dekaja to get rid of the party’s active stat boosts. Alongside this, he uses the move Evil Smile which has the potential to afflict the entire party with Fear. Players ought to use a party of characters that have had their social links raised to the point where they can purge each others’ status effects, and should have spells and items that can remove fear.

Finally, Adachi has access to the move Mudoon. It’s not a bad idea to have the main character equip a persona that protects against dark spells. But once the player has a check for each of these threats, Adachi can be defeated without issue.

How to Defeat Ameno-Sagiri

Ameno-Sagiri can be beaten with items that cure silence and timely guarding. The fight doesn’t break the mold when it comes to Persona 4 Golden boss battles, but can still be dangerous if players aren’t careful.

Ameno-Sagiri has the ability to silence the entire party with Foolish Whisper and has access to Zio, Agi, and Garu spells that can score knockdowns on party members. After the boss drops below half health, it starts using a new ability called Bewildering Fog. Bewildering Fog makes Ameno-Sagiri impervious for two turns, so take this time to heal the party and remove any debuffs.

This also comes with a change in strategy from Ameno-Sagiri. After using Bewildering Fog, Ameno-Sagiri can use Mind Charge and other buffs. Have the party guard after it goes through all its buffs in order to prevent a total party kill.

From there, just balance offense and guarding in order to chip away at Ameno-Sagiri’s health. After beating it, players are poised to get one of Persona 4 Golden’s good endings.
