Persona 4 Golden is full of many Social Links, but not all of them are easy to unlock on a first playthrough. Naoki Konishi serves as the Hanged Man Social Link. Players may recognize him as the younger brother of Saki Konishi, who was the first victim in the murder cases surrounding Inaba. While his Social Link isn't required to complete the game, it's worth starting his Social Link just for the Hanged Man Arcana.

Naoki is one of those Social Links that players can easily miss. Persona 4 Golden hints at its players to spend time with Naoki, but by the time his Social Link is unlocked, players may already have their hands full with other Social Links. If P4G players intend on getting the Hanged Man to Rank 10, they'll have to spend their free time carefully and make sure they're being consistent with Social Stats as well.

Where to Find Naoki

After June 7th, players will need to speak to Naoki two more times afterwards before they can formally unlock the Social Link. He's available Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons and is located on the first floor of the Practice Building. On holidays, Naoki can be found outside Konishi Liquor Store in the North Shopping District (north of Tatsumi Textiles and Tatsuhime Shrine). He's not available on rainy days or weekends (excluding holidays).

Before meeting up with Naoki, players should make sure the protagonist has a Persona of the Hanged Man Arcana. This will add an extra point to any of the “best responses” during the Social Link. The following have the matching Arcana:

  • Berith
  • Hell Biker
  • Ikusa
  • Makami
  • Orthrus
  • Taowu
  • Yatsufusa
  • Vasuki

Most of these are obtainable through Fusions, especially on a first playthrough. For example: Berith is one that P4G players can have fused as early as Yukiko's Castle (Sandman + Ghoul). However, it's also a Persona that shows up during Shuffle Time in Marukyu Striptease dungeon.

Rank 1

On June 7th, Mr. Morooka will assign the protagonist to the Student Health Association. Players will be sent there regardless of their response to Morooka. When prompted to answer the Health Association's questions, select the following for Knowledge and Expression points:

  1. Kitao from Santo Inc.
  2. Can it come in 2 months?

Eventually, Naoki will show up, and once the others leave, say the following:

  1. No, help me clean.
  2. You can go after you help.

After this, players will need to speak to Naoki two more times before they can officially start the Social Link. He can be found on the first floor of the Classroom building. Speaking to him will take up afternoon free time, so keep this in mind.

Urge him to help out at the Student Health Association, and when the students start talking about him behind his back, select Reproach them or Ignore them. The choice doesn't matter here aside from a few line differences. Another scene with Naoki and the protagonist will play out. Again, speak to him once more during the next (Afternoon) Free Time to finally reach Rank 1 of the Hanged Man Social Link.

Rank 10 will rank up automatically once it's unlocked. If players find they're still lacking Social Link points, they can go to Tatsuhime Shrine during their Free Time to draw a Fortune. Depending on the blessing received, players can get up to 3 points towards the Social Link. Since this Rank is automatic, choices here won't affect the Social Link. Regardless, the responses will give 3 Social Link points (with a matching Persona)... Including the ruder "That's right. Be grateful." Response.

For all the hard work, Naoki will give the protagonist the Junes Receipt Key Item. It may be underwhelming to some P4G players, but as a Key Item, it will carry over into NG+. This will allow the protagonist to fuse Attis, the ultimate form of the Hanged Man Arcana. Attis is a level 82 Persona, meaning if the protagonist is not at the same level, he won't be able to Fuse it.

Attis is good for using as a Magic-based Attacker. He will Repel Wind and Null Fire, but he has a weakness to Darkness Affinity Skills, such as Mudoon and Mamudoon. Make sure the protagonist doesn't have Attis equipped when facing off against a Shadow with one of those Skills.

Fortunately, Attis isn't part of a Special Fusion, meaning he can be fused normally (ie: with two Personas). Players should transfer useful Skills (such as Victory Cry) via Fusion or use Skill Cards when creating Attis. If the Hanged Man Social Link is maxed out, Attis will gain additional experience from the Fusion.

Persona 4 Golden is available on PC, Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
