Summary
- Persona 4 Revival, a remake of Persona 4 Golden, was officially announced during today's Xbox Games Showcase.
- The game will launch for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
- No release date was provided.
After months of consistent rumors, the highly anticipated Persona 4 remake was officially revealed during the June 2025 Xbox Games Showcase. Initially released for the PS2 in 2008, Persona 4 has remained one of the most popular titles in Atlus' JRPG franchise, and the title will soon be similarly adapted for modern audiences to 2024's Persona 3 Reload.
Following the massive success of Persona 3 Reload, many have believed that Persona 4 would be the next to get the remake treatment. In May, three separate voice actors from the original title took to social media to explain that they hadn't been asked to return to the remake, all but confirming that the long-standing rumors were true. Additionally, Atlus registered a suspicious domain earlier this year, causing rumors to begin swirling even more fervently. As many anticipated, the game has been officially announced, with fans immediately taking to social media to celebrate the news and ponder what new gameplay mechanics and quality of life updates may be on the way.
A Persona 4 Remake Can't Repeat One Major Persona 3 Reload Trick
A Persona 4 remake could follow many of the same beats that Persona 3 Reload did, but it would have to differ with one key decision.
During the June 2025 Xbox Games Showcase, Atlus revealed Persona 4 Revival, a remake of 2008's Persona 4 Golden. While no release date has been confirmed, the title will launch for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S sometime in the future. While the reveal trailer was somewhat short, it showed off some familiar locales, including the main shopping street in Inaba and the stack of TVs that features prominently in the game's opening cinematic. Earlier this week, several sources reported that a Persona 4 remake would be announced during the livestream, as Persona 3 Reload was revealed during the 2023 Xbox Games Showcase.
Persona 4 Revival Officially Revealed
In early 2024, multiple leakers implied that several other Persona remakes were in the works, including reimaginings of both Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment. The Persona 4 remake was also mentioned at this time, though it was unclear whether Atlus would be releasing the title before or after the highly anticipated Persona 6. Nothing concrete has been revealed about the latter, despite Persona 5 having been released nearly a decade ago.
Persona 4 Revival will likely feature many of Persona 3 Reload's quality of life upgrades, along with improved graphics, an updated soundtrack, and a new vocal cast. As the community waits for Persona 6, Persona 5: The Phantom X will be released in the West on June 26 for PC and mobile devices. The gacha title will be free-to-play and will include many familiar mechanics found in Atlus' mega-hit release.
