Players might be able to get a good idea of what Persona 4 Revival could offer from a look back at Persona 3 Reload. It might not be a perfect comparison, since Persona 3 and Persona 4 already had their fair share of differences from the start. Regardless, Persona 4 Revival is likely to make a fair amount of changes compared to the original and Persona 4 Golden. A good place to start would be to look at what exactly changed between Persona 3 and its recent remake. That could offer a hint towards the future of Persona 4 Revival.

The reveal of Persona 4 Revival was notable in how little it actually revealed about the game. The only gameplay footage shown was a short clip of the protagonist running around Inaba. This was enough to confirm that the game would apparently have some new camera angles when walking around the city. However, that was all that could really be gleaned from the teaser aside from the remake's existence. This leaves a lot of questions that will remain unanswered until more information comes to light. Persona 4 Revival has a lot of possibilities, but the plans behind the remake are still a mystery.

Persona 4 Revival Can Take a Few Good Hints From Persona 3 Reload's Reworked Features

Persona 4 Revival is Almost Guaranteed to See Graphical Upgrades

Looking at the improved features from Persona 3 Reload is a good first step towards what players might be able to expect from Persona 4 Revival. Obviously, updated graphics and presentation are a given. This is likely to include a new voice cast, and possibly more of the game's dialogue being voiced than in the original. In addition, it could continue a trend that Persona 5 started by giving each member of the party their own finishing poses after triggering an All-Out Attack. While not as important as the gameplay itself, it's reasonable to expect a visual upgrade for Persona 4 Revival.

Many Formula Changes From Persona 3 Reload Are Worth Keeping

Adjustments to certain mechanics are also on the table. Persona 5's Baton Pass was used as the basis for the Shift mechanic in Persona 3 Reload, and Persona 4 Revival is likely to have a similar mechanic as well. Persona 3 Reload also saw Light and Dark skills reworked to deal damage, rather than being low-accuracy instant kill skills. This was a major boost for Personas that use those skills, and could be amazing for Naoto, who specializes in them. These were two simple changes to the battle system that served Persona 3 Reload well, so it would make sense to retain them.

Persona 4 Revival Could Follow Up on Cool Previous Additions

A few entirely new features are also a possibility worth considering. Fuuka in Persona 3 Reload had a set of new navigator abilities, and Rise could potentially get something similar. Likewise, the addition of Theurgies effectively gave each party member an extremely powerful special move to pull out in a key situation. Outside of battle, Be Blue V was reworked to function similarly to Pokemon's Move Reminder, letting the player remember old skills to adjust their party members' movesets. These were all useful additions to the formula, and it would be good news if Persona 4 Revival brought them back in some way.

Several of the Protagonist's Theurgies in Persona 3 Reload previously appeared as Fusion Spells, but not all returned in the remake.

Persona 4 Revival could apply plenty of changes to the original format. How much Persona 4 Revival will follow Persona 3 Reload is a mystery, but it can't be denied that many of the latter's changes were great improvements for an already-good game. Persona 4 already saw notable upgrades when Persona 4 Golden came out, so this could be a chance for the PS2 classic to get another coat of polish. Some of the best improvements to Persona 4 Revival could use Persona 3 Reload as inspiration.
