Aside from defeating Shadows or stealing someone's heart, the Persona series also features a slew of activities for the players in between defeating Shadows. From making origami to visiting a fortune-teller, past games from the series often have new activities for the players to do during downtime.
It is expected that the upcoming Persona 5: The Phantom X will also include activities for the players to do around the setting of the game, Tokyo. These activities will also potentially make the protagonist of the game, Wonder, more relatable to the players.
10 Fishing
Starting from Persona 4, fishing has been an ever-present activity in the Persona series. With a fishing spot also available in the base Persona 5 game, precisely at Ichigaya, the players would have the chance to also fish their own Ichigaya Guardian with Wonder. Potentially, fishing could also be a source of both income and equipment for the players.
Although it is still unclear whether Fishing would return as a full-fledged activity or just a hangout place, players would undeniably be expecting the activity to exist in some form.
9 Part-Time Jobs Working
Since Persona 5: The Phantom X also takes place in metropolitan Tokyo, numerous part-time jobs should be available for Wonder to take as well. Whether the purpose is to earn money or raise social stats, players should anticipate part-time jobs being available as one of the activities in the game.
From working in a convenience store or a bar, there would be plenty of places available for Wonder to both explore and apply for part-time jobs. Potentially, Wonder could even work in the same places as Joker did in the base game.
8 Big Bang Burger Challenge
Owned by the Okumura family and in extension, Haru Okumura, the Big Bang Burger serves as a challenge for Joker to test whether his social stats are enough to take on the Big Bang Burger Challenge. Aside from fulfilling Joker's stomach, the challenge would also increase social stats by a large amount should the Challenge be beaten.
Potentially, Wonder could also take on the same challenge to increase his social stats and test his ability to devour a humongous Big Bang Burger. Usually, the challenge requires a set amount of Guts, Knowledge, and Proficiency to beat.
7 Gym Training
Potentially, Wonder would also be able to increase his stats by exercising at a gym reachable from his residence. In Persona 5, exercising in a gym increases both Joker's HP and SP, which is superior compared to training in his own home. Using proteins before the exercise also increases the stats boost by some margin.
Training in a gym could also potentially increase Wonder's bond with certain Confidants, as they might make an appearance in the gym as well. However, the gym could also be locked behind certain Confidants level, as it did in Persona 5. Ryuji Sakamoto's Confidant at Rank 5 or Ann Takamaki's Confidant at Rank 8 is necessary to access the gym.
6 Crafting
Crafting is an essential part of infiltrating a Palace back in Persona 5. Items such as lockpicks and smoke bombs are crucial for exploration in order to get precious items and escaping from a sticky situation. With Persona 5: The Phantom X featuring Palace infiltration as well, crafting would potentially make a reappearance as well to aid Wonder in his infiltrations.
Whether it would take a time slot just like in the base game would be an interesting question to answer. Crafting equipments for the protagonist would be a possible feature as well for the final finished game.
5 Team Bonding
Just as the original Persona series suggests, the bond between the party's teammates and the protagonist is a crucial thing to both develop and maintain. Team bonding activities such as playing games like Billiards would be an interesting potential activity to be added in Persona 5: The Phantom X.
Since Wonder also lives in the same city as Joker, coupled with many familiar locations as well, it is not out of the possibility to see Wonder doing the same activities with his fellow party members, just like how the Phantom Thieves do.
4 Watching Movies
Watching movies in theaters during Persona 5 become one of the important activities to do due to the benefits it brings. Watching a movie boosts up one of Joker's social stats by a nice amount. Another benefit that can be earned by doing the activity is by inviting one of the Confidants while watching movies as well, increasing the Confidant's familiarity.
With many of the theaters being near Wonder's residence, he can be able to watch movies as well with his Confidants. It would be a huge convenience to be able to do so as the time spent would be efficient by increasing social stat and a confidant's familiarity at the same time.
3 Fortune Telling
Veteran players of the original Persona 5 would be very familiar with fortune-telling and the seer herself, Chihaya Mifune. The activity enables Joker to be read of his fortune by Chihaya, creating beneficial events such as triggering the Fusion Alarm, increasing a confidant's familiarity, or even increasing the money drop rate from Shadows.
If Wonder can visit Shinjuku during his free time, Chihaya's availability as a fortune-teller would be almost guaranteed. However, the fortune-telling options also can be quite different in Persona 5: The Phantom X.
2 Weapon Shopping
With Munehisa Iwai's and Untouchable appearance during the beta test of Persona 5: The Phantom X, the activity to shop for weapons is almost guaranteed at this point for the full release of the game. Shopping for weapons is a crucial activity to do in the series, as the players are required to keep their arsenal updated before facing the Shadows which gets stronger as the game progresses.
Although the mechanic can be quite different from the base Persona 5, it is almost guaranteed for the player to be able to buy and customize their weapons by visiting the shop.
1 Batting In A Cage
The batting cage is one of the new activities that the players can do in Persona 5. By timing strikes correctly, players can gain prizes and also a point into their Proficiency social stat as well. This activity made an otherwise menial task to gain progress in a social stat became more fun.
With Yongen-Jaya being able to be visited in Persona 5: The Phantom X, it is a possibility for Wonder to be able to visit the Batting Cage as well. Although the mechanics of the game could be different, the activity would be an instant classic among the players should it get implemented in the full version of the game.
