Giving Gifts is an easy way to get additional Synergy Points for any bond; it's just important to know where to get gifts and also how to give them to your bonds. How to Give Gifts in Persona 5 Phantom X

You can give gifts to a Synergy Bond anytime you are hanging out with them, not for a major rank. You can tell when this is just a normal hangout, and you can give a gift when the words in the yellow bubble say, "Big Rewards" instead of, "Form Bonds". At the end of a hangout, you'll get the option to choose from any of the gifts you have to give to that bond, with the Synergy Boost listed over each reward to help make sure you make the best decision.

Earning additional Synergy Points will make a major rank hangout appear earlier, so giving the right gift can help you save your action points and have to hang out with a character fewer times between the major hangouts. In the Synergy Menu, you can also see the likes of a person to know what items you should purchase and give them as a gift to get the best results.

Your bonds won't be available to hang out with every day, and it's only a chance of them appearing during their usual time during your City Activity each day. You can increase the likelihood of a Bond appearing each day by prioritizing it in the Synergy menu, with you being able to prioritize one bond for each time of day.
