Persona 5: The Phantom X isn't like any of the other titles in Atlus' repertoire. For starters, the game is being developed not by P-Studio, the Atlus subsidiary that stewards the overall Persona franchise, but by Perfect World Games, a Chinese company that's known for making games-as-a-service titles. P5X, as it's often called, is also a live service mobile gacha game. That means that, even though it's free-to-play, the game is filled with microtransactions, the likes of which have never been seen before in a mainline Persona installment.

Despite being out on the market for more than a year, Persona 5: The Phantom X hasn't been launched in full yet. An open beta test of the game was released on PC, iOS, and Android in select Asian territories, like China, South Korea, and Taiwan. However, the game was not made available worldwide, and Atlus and Perfect World Games were reluctant to share information on the matter. Fortunately, though, after months of leaks, rumors, and speculation, the two companies finally confirmed earlier this week that Persona 5: The Phantom X will make its way to the West on June 26, 2025.

Atlus' Release Schedule Will Be Empty When P5X and RAIDOU Remastered Come Out Next Month

Frankly, it's a bit of a surprise that Persona 5: The Phantom X is coming out so soon. Many fans were speculating that, since the game hadn't been released in Japan yet, its global launch was still months away. However, it turns out that not only is the game releasing in Japan and the West simultaneously, it's also making its worldwide debut in just a few weeks. Interestingly, Persona 5: The Phantom X is coming out only a few days before Atlus' other big release of the year, RAIDOU Remastered. Since the company has nothing else on its roadmap, aside from these two titles, then maybe it's gearing up to make some major announcements over the summer.

Atlus Hasn't Made Any Major Announcements in a Long Time, But History Could Repeat Itself

So far, Atlus has shared very little information about the games that it's working on. Aside from RAIDOU Remastered, which was revealed just a few months ago, the company hasn't unveiled any notable new projects in quite a while. The last time that Atlus had a bunch of major game announcements was in June 2023, when it showed up during the Xbox Games Showcase to reveal Persona 3 Reload, Persona 5 Tactica, and Metaphor: ReFantazio. Considering the leaks that are currently circulating, it's possible that history will repeat itself and that Atlus will announce a bunch of new games at the Xbox showcase next month.

Both Persona 6 and a Persona 4 Remake Could Be Revealed During the Summer

If rumors are to be believed, Atlus is working on two new Persona games that haven't been announced yet: a Persona 4 remake and Persona 6. Even though Persona 3 Reload isn't even two years old, it seems that Persona 4 Rewind, or whatever it may be called, is closer to completion than some may think. Earlier this year, some fans spotted that Atlus registered a domain for a game titled P4R, which suspiciously sounded a lot like the initials for a Persona 4 remake. Since the company had done something similar with Persona 3 Reload, prior to its reveal in 2023, fans are expecting P4R to be announced in the near future.

Unfortunately, unlike the Persona 4 remake, there isn't a lot of evidence to suggest that a Persona 6 announcement is imminent. However, it would make sense for the game to be revealed next month. As previously mentioned, Atlus' release schedule will be empty by the end of June, so the company should probably bring out the big guns sooner rather than later. A back-to-back Persona 6 and Persona 4 remake announcement at the June Xbox showcase would be more than enough to satisfy Atlus fans who have been dying to hear about the company's future projects.
