Persona 5 Royal: The 13 Best Gifts You Can Give Hifumi

Persona 5 Royal has to be one of the biggest and best anime-game releases in the last decade, hands down. The expanded story, new mechanics, and new characters are the main draw, but there are also a handful of new activities to do in this new version of the Phantom Thieves' story.

Romance is a huge draw for JRPG fans in Persona 5 Royal, and with the option to court one (or more) of 10 ladies, players have no shortage of choices. The Shogi genius Hifumi Togo is one of Joker's options, and she's also the Star Confidant, giving Joker access to many different escape, switch-out, and double money options in the game's combat system. But, more than all that, she's just a great character (though apparently not good enough to be in the Party), worth learning about by giving her Gifts.

Updated August 14th, 2024 by Jacob Buchalter: Despite Hifumi Toga being relatively untouched in between Persona 5, Persona 5 Royal, and Persona 5 Strikers, she's still one of the fan-favorite Confidants of the game overall. There are a good handful of reasons for this, whether it's Hifumi's past, her calm outer shell hiding a deeply self-conscious inner shell, or her intellectual conversations with Joker, she's an incredibly well-fleshed-out character. But, to rank up her Condiant faster, you're going to want to give her some gifts, and here are the best ones, as well as where to find them (and even how much they cost).

13 Chocolate Truffles

Let's start things off with a surprise...Hifumi likes chocolates. Most of the other stereotypically 'romantic' gifts Joker can get like a Flower Basket, Rose Bouquet, or Heart Necklace, don't do anything for Hifumi, but she seems to like the Truffles at least a bit. These Chocolate Truffles will be the first of many purchases Joker can make while wandering around Shibuya's Underground Mall.

12 Mochi Cushion

+2 Confidant Points

Isn't a Mochi-shaped Cushion just a round pillow? In any case, this is a Mochi Cushion that, according to the item description, is for the 'busy businessperson'. And, who else fits that description other than Hifumi Togo? Hifumi is constantly practicing Shogi in an attempt to maintain her streak of never losing, though there's more to that story than what one might expect.

Grabbing a present for Joker's favorite lady in Persona 5 Royal doesn't have to be so expensive. For Hifumi, some of the most practical 'cheap' gifts work well, as she seems to appreciate the thought more than the cost of the gift.

It's funny how Persona 5 is one of the rare RPGs where players have to actually manage their budget in order to make everyone happy. In any case, those interested in getting a cost-effective item to boost their standing with the Star Confidant can grab the Dragon Sword Keychain.

It may just be true that Hifumi has a thing for sweets, as this Custard Cake and the Chocolate Truffles seem to be well-received by her even if other gifts along the same sort of theme won't. Then again, who doesn't like a bit of sweets now and then?

9 Uji Matcha Flan

As if players weren't already spending enough time in the Underground Mall instead of the JRPG sections of the game, there are even more sweet-tooth Gifts to buy for Hifumi down here, such as the Uji Matcha Flan. Funnily enough, most of the Gifts that Hifumi has a reaction to can be purchased down here, so players can just stock up on all their Gifts ahead of time.

8 Glass Vase

While practical gifts are nice, decorations are another excellent option for romance options in Persona 5 Royal. If helping decorate this Shogi protege's room sounds appealing, grab the Glass Vase. Oddly enough, this isn't a full-sized Glass Vase like one would expect, but rather a colorful palm-sized flower vase, which is not something players would likely assume that Hifumi likes.

As both a genius Shogi Player and a hard-working student, Hifumi spends plenty of time reading. Yusuke claims she keeps to herself, and, unsurprisingly, she passes the time with a good book. A Book Cover serves as a great gift for her, and it's not all that expensive either.

6 Rakugo Collection

Rakugo is a performance art that's beloved by intellectuals across the seas in a similar way to classical theater, so of course, it would be something Hifumi is interested in, or at least pretends to be to keep up her 'flawless Shogi professional' persona.

This calming Rakugo Collection of well-known performances is perfect for Hifumi's concentration, making it a great gift idea for Joker to snatch up.

5 Black Mug

While it may seem a bit mundane at first, a nice mug can mean a lot to the right person. Grabbing a practical gift with the Black Mug in Shinjuku shows Hifumi that Joker cares about his partner on and off the board, and it really seems like black is 'her' color.

4 Incense Set

Sometimes, a relaxing scent can put the mind at ease. Hifumi spends most of her time focusing on Shogi, so help her take the edge off by grabbing an Incense Set. Now if only that applied to Joker's issues in the open-world sections of the game, there'd be a lot less for the Phantom Thieves to deal with.
