Gifts are a new mechanic in Persona 5 Royal. Previous games in the Persona franchise let the protagonist hang out with characters to raise their relationship points between ranking events, but in this game, Joker can offer gifts to his confidants to increase the point gain even further.
Persona 5 Royal Gift Guide (Best P5R Gifts)
A complete Persona 5 gift guide detailing the best P5R gifts for every confidant in the game.
However, Persona 5 Royal isn't entirely clear about where to find gifts or when to give them to confidants. This guide will explain where to find every gift in the game, how to get multiple copies of gifts, and what the requirements are for gift-giving.
Where to Buy Gifts in Persona 5 Royal
There are a number of stores in almost every hub area that sell gift items. Players can identify gift items at a glance because they have the orange gift symbol by their name. No consumables, accessories, or other item types can ever be gifts.
Here's where to look and what's for sale. Note that the confidants who most like each gift are identified by their Arcana's number, which players can check in the Confidants section of the menu. Faith is indicated with X while Councilor is X1.

The Silver Bangle and Heart Ring are special because they work on everyone. Joker can give the Silver Bangle to a male confidant or the Heart Ring to a female confidant, and always get three points. So while these are the most expensive gifts in the game, players are guaranteed to get a good result even if they aren't using a guide. On the other hand, items like the Idol Pins, Aroma Machine, Puzzle Rings, and Mochi Cushion are disliked by everyone and are not worth buying.
Players can only buy one of each gift at a time, but like every other store, gift sellers restock their items every Monday. This means players can buy several copies of popular items like Snack Packs and Robot Vacuums and hand them out to every confidant who likes them. Players can also sometimes get gift items from the Sunday shopping network.
How to Use Gifts
Joker can only give gifts to his confidants on regular hangout events that the player initiates. This means no gifts during ranking events and no gifts during special events where a confidant invites Joker out. However, it doesn't matter whether Joker and his confidant hang out in the same spot or whether they go to another part of Tokyo. Players can give gifts in either case.
There's also a hidden requirement for gift-giving. If Joker gets enough points during the hangout to start the next ranking event, the game won't let players give the confidant a gift. The option only appears when players still need more points to reach a new rank. However, Joker can always give a gift during hangouts that take place after reaching rank 10. Since relationship points don't matter anymore, players are free to waste as much of their gift money as they like.
Every gift, even a bad one, will give players one relationship point, and each confidant also has several gifts that will give two points. The same-Arcana bonus players get during events also applies to gifts, and so players with the right Persona can get three points even from a middling gift.
Joker will sometimes get gifts from his confidants during hangouts, and he can use these to decorate his room. Players don't need to give confidants a gift to get these decorations, and the two item types aren't connected in any way.
To sum up, gifts are a great way for players to spend money and save time by boosting a confidant relationship between ranks. However, if players are having trouble giving gifts, that's only because they don't need the extra help.
