Persona 5 Royal emphasizes strategy and tactics, allowing players to customize their own teams and Persona rosters. Players are encouraged to experiment with Skill Cards and team compositions until they find the perfect fit for their playstyle. Since each Phantom Thief has a unique role in combat, players can lean into a healer-heavy team, a full damage-oriented team, or simply a team with their favorite characters.
Due to this freedom, players may feel paralyzed by the sheer number of possible team compositions. Some players may wish to retain their same team members throughout the entire game. However, other players who strive for absolute optimization may switch out team members after every combat. No matter which route players choose, Persona 5 Royal is balanced to where every team composition is viable to an extent.
How To Change The Team In Persona 5 Royal
If players possess more than four playable characters, they become able to switch out members of their team. To do so, travel to the entrance of the Palace of Mementos. Here, players should see all characters who are not currently in their party, all lined up in a row. To invite a character into their team, walk up to the character and interact with them. Next, choose which team member to switch out, if the team is already full.
If players have the Star Confidant maximum ranking, they can also change their team members mid-battle. To do this , open the "Tactics" menu on a playable character's turn. Then, players can choose to swap out party members, all over the course of a single turn. This action can only be performed during a character's full turn, as Baton Passes and bonus turns are not eligible.
When players are not in combat, they can change their party composition by opening the menu and pressing the "Stats" option. Here, they can view all available party members, along with their HP and SP. To swap out party members, press the "Party" button on a character's name. This will insert them into the current party, but the changes will only save if players ensure that exactly four characters are selected as party members. This is an excellent way to alter teams on the go, as it can be done at any time, even in the normal world.
Persona 5 Royal is currently available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
