Summary

  • Agility stat determines turn order in battle. Choose party members with high Agility for strategic advantage.
  • High Agility pairs well with healing or support roles. Consider character stats when building a team.
  • Morgana, Yoshizawa, Ken, Yosuke, Chie, and Koromaru each have unique strengths and weaknesses in combat.

The Agility stat in Persona 3/Reload, Persona 4/Golden, and Persona 5/Royal prioritizes each party member's turn. Naturally, the one with the highest Agility will usually go first, the lowest goes last. In battle, the enemy's Agility is also calculated. If striking first for a chance to Down enemies is a necessity for combat, then it's a good idea to bring along party members that have above average speed.

Persona: Party Members with the Lowest Magic

Several Persona party members across Persona 3/4/5 have a less than average Magic Stat, but should that stop them from being on the front lines?

The protagonist's Agility stat is influenced by the Person he's equipped and their level. Party members only have one Persona, making it important to know their stats while constructing a team. However, just because a character's Agility stat is high, doesn't guarantee good Strength or Magic. A good Agility stat can pair well with a healing role or support role. There are a handful across Persona 3/4/5 that have worthwhile Agility.

Morgana is the first party member in Persona 5/Royal. His stats are all-around with his Skill Pool consisting mostly of magic (Garu Skills) and healing spells. He will even learn the powerful spell Salvation, which fully restores all party members' HP and cures them of any status ailments (except death).

On the downside, Morgana's Endurance means he won't be able to take many hits. His role as the healer can be swapped out for characters like Makoto or even Joker. However, Morgana's above-average Agility is ideal for a healer, since players will likely want to heal up their team as soon as they can.

Yoshizawa was not a character in Persona 5 and was added for Persona 5 Royal. She can learn powerful Bless Skills and Physical Skills. One of the reasons players may prefer her on their team is for Brave Step, which enhances the critical hit rate for the entire time. Her above-average Agility means her turn is likely to be first in battle. She will also take the place as the team's "Bless" attacker, since Goro Akechi's Skill Pool is revamped to fit his Persona, Loki.

Not all of Atlus' Persona games offer satisfying conclusions. Those that do, however, are pretty hard to forget.

Like Morgana, Yoshizawa suffers from low Endurance. She has less of a problem with this than Morgana if she's able to land critical hits and potentially Down her opponents, so long as they don't reflect/block/absorb physical damage. Given Yoshizawa's minimal playability, it's likely players will have her on the front lines to get the most out of her in the third semester/True Ending path.

Prior to Persona Q2 and Persona 3 Reload, Ken's Skill Pool was unimpressive and nearly impossible. This was due to the limitations of Light and Dark Skills. Hama and Mudo are instakill light and dark Skills respectively, and their accuracy isn't exactly renowned. Fortunately for Ken, Persona 5 added Light and Dark Skills that dealt damage like regular Affinity Skills: Kouha and Eiga. Thus, in Persona 3 Reload and Q2, Ken was able to battle with Affinity Skills just as any other character.

It may come as a surprise to some, but Ken is one of the fastest party members in Persona 3 Reload. He learns a mix of Magic and Support Skills such as Ziodyne and Tetrakarn/Makarakarn. Because of this, Ken doesn't specialize in physical attack, magic, or support - he's an all-around unit. While he does learn Ziodyne, he doesn't learn Maziodyne, meaning he can't target more than one opponent's Zio weakness per turn. This is why most players will use Akihiko instead of Ken if they need someone with Zio. However, Ken's high Agility means he'll likely be one of the first to move in battle, enabling players to buff their team befor the enemy's turn.

If Ken Amada from Persona 3 has all-around stats, then Yosuke Hanamura is the same. One huge advantage with Yosuke is that he specializes in Wind/Garu Skills and has several useful Support Skills. Players are likely to pass the "healer" role onto Yukiko once she joins. However, Yosuke's healing can be useful for backup, since Yukiko will likely be attacking with her fire magic. His high Agility gives him plenty of time to buff his team with Masukukaja (raises Accuracy/Evasion for all party members for three turns) or Youthful Wind (exclusive skill, has same effect as Masukukaja and Mediarama combined).

25 Most Powerful Persona Users Across The Entire Series

The Persona series features all kinds of amazing Persona users. But these stand out as the series' strongest.

While Yosuke can help carry the team all the way to the end of Persona 4 Golden, he can be outclassed by later party members. As mentioned, Yukiko can take his place as healer, and Teddie learns better Support Skills than Yosuke. If players are just keeping him on the front lines for his Garu Skills, then they can just equip a Persona to fill this role onto the protagonist instead of wasting a team slot. Fortunately, Yosuke's high Agility is tough to beat, and it's likely that his turn will be first in battle.

After Yosuke, Chie joins the team and her Ice Skills are incredibly useful, if not necessary, for the Shadow Yukiko boss fight. Her Personas learn powerful Physical Skills and Bufula. Her turn is likely to be after Yosuke's if they're both used in combat.

A downside to Chie is her low SP and average HP. Physical Skills will drain HP instead of SP, which can be a problem for Chie if her health is low. Her exclusive skill, Dragon Hustle, has the effect of Heat Riser on all allies, but thanks to her low SP, players aren't likely to use it often in battle. This can be a bit frustrating, since Dragon Hustle tends to be better than Kanji and Teddie's exclusive skills, both of which tend to take Chie's place on the front line once they're unlocked. This is due to Kanji being a physical fighter (like Chie) and Teddie learning higher-tier Bufu Skills.

Koromaru and Shinjiro are the two SEES members that don't awaken to a second Persona. However, this shouldn't prevent players from having Koromaru join their expeditions in Tartuarus. Like Ken, Koromaru's Skill Pool in Persona 3 Reload has been given various quality-of-life changes. He's ideal for Downing enemies that are weak to Dark and Fire. He'll also learn a medium Alimighty Skill (Virus Breath) that has a chance of inflicting poison.

5 Persona 3 Portable Social Links They Should Have Used in Persona 3 Reload

Several Social Links in Persona 3 Reload could have taken from the female protagonist's route in Persona 3 Portable.

Unfortunately for Koromaru, his other stats aren't too impressive. He has several Physical Skills, but none of them inflict heavy/severe damage, and his Strenght is easily outclassed by other party members, such as Akihiko. His Magic is decent, but it's not difficult to cover Dark Skills with a Fused Persona, and Junpei can take care of enemies weak to Fire. On the plus side, Koromaru's Agility is the highest out of every party member in Persona 3/4/5 (without modifiers/incense). If players need a fast party member to buff with items or use Theurgy, then Koromaru's a must-have for the team.
