SNL star and comedian Pete Davidson is the voice of a talking Great Dane in the brand-new trailer for Netflix's upcoming film, Marmaduke. The movie is set to be directed by Mark A.Z. Dippe, Matt Philip Whelan, and Youngki Lee. Marmaduke centers and brings to life the beloved canine character that was created by Bradley Jay Anderson, in just as little as 88-minutes of animation.

Screenwriter Bryon Kavanaugh worked meticulously on ensuring the script for the film was both heartfelt and effortlessly hilarious. The Netflix movie follows a legendary dog trainer, who is determined to make Marmaduke the very first Great Dane to ever win the Westminster Championship. Marmaduke was produced by Andrew McMeel Entertainment and Legacy Classics, with the impressive animation done by StoryBerry. The new Marmaduke trailer that was released by Netflix After School marks the official introduction of the mischievously adorable dog voiced by Davidson to viewers. Marmaduke is basically labeled as a ‘lost cause’ due to his constant antics.

Marmaduke ends up drawing the attention of a world-renowned dog owner (voiced by Brian Hull) after a video of him completely ruining a barbecue suddenly goes viral. However, the trainer becomes convinced of the potential this misbehaved dog has to be fully trained in order to be a champion. However, in the beginning it is the trainer who believes he is the champion and that he is the only one capable of making Marmaduke a winner. Yet, as their bond grows thicker through training, the two realize how much of a match made in heaven they really are - how they both in fact need one another in order to win.

Things begin to become more challenging for Marmaduke as he is made aware of the notorious Zeus, a more experienced rival who sets out to ensure that the pair don't take the medal home. Davidson is most famously known for his hilarious skits on SNL and his various stand-up specials as well. However, Marmaduke isn’t his first venture into the world of animation. Davidson has also done some voice over work in 2019’s Angry Birds Movie 2 and the adult animated series, The Freak Brothers.

His distinctive voice, charming demeanor, and comedic timing seems to suggest that he was made for work like this. However, as of late, Davidson has also made it a point to showcase the range he is capable of as an actor. He also appeared in James Gunn's live-action The Suicide Squad and made a quick cameo in the rom-com, I Want You Back. In Davidson's near future, it seems he is continuing to expand his versatility, as he is set to star in two new horror films - Bodies, Bodies, Bodies and James DeMonaco's The Home.

Marmaduke is to be released to Netflix on May 6th, 2022.
