In Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero, players have plenty of tactics available to them. With a wide range of available units, items, and skills, you can set up your team for whatever strategies work best for you.

One great way to diversify your strategies in Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero is by utilizing Gadgets. Gadgets can be used during a map to provide various damaging and utility effects, though a Phantom must either board them or be Confined to them for them to function. This guide will discuss how to unlock Gadgets and how to deploy them.

The Best Turn Based Tactics Games For Beginners

A lot of turn-based tactics games have quite the steep learning curve, so here are a few that are great for those unfamiliar with the genre.

How to Get Gadgets

Phantom Brave_The Lost Hero_Gadgets_Peashooter 1

Gadgets can be obtained after completing Chapter 2 and unlocking the Engineer. Creating an Engineer will give you access to the Gadgets Facility, where you can spend BOR to unlock and upgrade the three available Gadgets. Each Gadget costs 10,000 BOR to unlock.

How Each Gadget Works

Peashooter

The Peashooter is a Tank that can fire Napalm Shots to deal damage to groups of enemies while firing allies across the battlefield and buffing them in the process. By using it carefully, you can dish out a decent amount of damage to enemies clustered together, and the ability to launch your allies can come in handy for reaching high ground or repositioning a unit with poor movement options.

Barrelbot

The Barrelbot is a heavy robot specializing in punches and beam attacks. Its electrical punches and beam attacks can destroy blocks, making them useful for clearing out obstructions in some maps, but they can also do a decent amount of damage in combat. Much like the Peashooter, Confining a Sailor to this Gadget is a great way to get more power out of a Unit whose base stats are fairly unimpressive, but which has a high REMOVE stat.

Ded Zeppelin

The Ded Zeppelin is an aerial unit that can launch several powerful ranged attacks. This Gadget is also able to pull enemies toward it, much like the fan gadget found in maps sometimes, making it a useful way to drag enemies into pits or into the range of your melee units.

How to Deploy Gadgets (& Some Tips for Using them in Battle)

In order to deploy a Gadget in battle, you'll first need to have Apricot on the map. She has the unique command "Gadget Drop", which allows her to deploy any Gadget you've unlocked. She can only put them down in a small circle around herself, so it's important to position her well first. Once you've done this, there are two ways to have a Unit pilot a gadget. You can have a Unit approach the Gadget, then use the Gadget command to trigger the "All Aboard" skill of the Gadget, or you can have Marona Confine a Phantom directly to the Gadget. The latter method is usually easier, as long as Marona is nearby, since it won't take up an action.

Since Gadgets have their own stats, most of the stats from the Unit Confined to them are not relevant. The one exception to this is the REMOVE stat, so it's best to pick a unit like a Sailor when Confining to a Gadget so you can maximize its time active on the map. It's also important to consider which Gadget is best suited to the current situation, such as using the Peashooter or Barrelbot to destroy blocks, or the Ded Zeppelin to drag enemies out of position.
