When loading into a game of Phasmophobia, players will want to find clues to discover the ghost's general location and eventually find the Ghost Room. To do so, players need the best equipment for the job, but they can only take three items with them at once.
Phasmophobia: How to Identify All Ghosts
Each ghost in Phasmophobia comes with special abilities that can help you identify them. Here's what you need to look out for on any difficulty.
There are other strong items, such as the book for ghosts to write in, but these should only be brought in later to be placed in the Ghost Room. When playing with friends, players will want to take a wide range of equipment to cover all angles. Lastly, always remember to have at least one source of light or another way to see where you are going, such as a Video Camera.
Best Starting Equipment In Phasmophobia
The following are arguably the best starting items in Phasmophobia and most beginner players will want to take them when first entering a house.
Flashlight
While the Flashlight won't help players find or identify a ghost, it's important to be able to see where you're going.
EMF Reader
Running around with an EMF Reader is one of the fastest ways to find the ghost, as it will pick up activity. This is a must-have item when entering a building in most cases.
The Tier 2 EMF Reader is far superior as it makes a noise and has bright lights.
Tier 2 Thermometer
The ghost will make rooms colder, so having a fast-acting Thermometer should help you identify where it is.
Look out for cold breath produced by your character!
Video Camera (Possibly On A Tripod
With the Video Camera's night vision turned on, players can see where they are going. They can also find Ghost Orbs by walking around with the camera. Ghost Orbs are only found in the Ghost Room, making them great for confirming a suspicion.
Setting the camera up on a tripod first and carrying them around together saves space as they only count as one item together.
Phasmophobia: Achievement/Trophy Guide
There are 54 Achievements/Trophies in Phasmophobia and this is how to unlock them all.
Alternative Starting Equipment In Phasmophobia
The following starting equipment can be good in some situations, such as on larger maps or when playing with friends, to have a range of options.
Parabolic Microphone
This is great for finding the ghost's general location on larger maps, as it picks up faraway sounds.
Sound Sensor
Players could set up a Sound Sensor early on and have a friend monitor for noise from the truck.
Camera
When first exploring a building while it's safe, players can take photos of interesting finds such as bones or cursed possessions in Phasmophobia. Players will earn money and XP for these photos, and possibly complete optional objectives.
Tier 1 D.O.T.S Projector
Players can walk around with this torch-like object and see if the ghost walks through the D.O.T.S. Higher-tier versions of this item are static and only work on the wall though.
UV Light
This can somewhat act as a light source, and players can start looking for fingerprints early if they see doors moving.
One tactic is to make multiple short trips and drop all the important equipment just inside the front door.
