Phasmophobia is bringing back the Crimson Eye event to celebrate Halloween 2025. Special holiday events have already become a mainstay of the early access title, and as a horror game, few holidays are as big a deal for it as Halloween. This year, Phasmophobia is resurrecting 2024's event while expanding it to new heights.

Since debuting in 2020, the four-player co-op game has become a massive hit, and the devs have continued to fine-tune it and release new content as it gears up for a full launch. These regular updates, along with its unique multiplayer gameplay, make Phasmophobia one of the best horror games to play on Halloween, and now Kinetic Games has offered another incentive to dive into it this spooky season. Crimson Eye is back and bigger than before.

The creator of the popular paranormal horror title Phasmophobia teases some major changes coming to the game in the upcoming Horror 2.0 patch.

Phasmophobia Crimson Eye Event Dates

  • October 9 - October 31

An October 7 post on the official Phasmophobia blog confirmed that the Crimson Eye event is returning from last year and will run from October 9 through October 31. While it's still technically the same event as fans got in Halloween 2024, it won't be identical to the first iteration. Just as Kinetic Games updated Phasmophobia's Cursed Hollow event this year in response to player feedback, it's taken the same approach with the Crimson Eye. Most notably, 2025's version will happen across seven maps instead of four, with the available event locations rotating between four different options daily. Rewards will also be granted simply by completing goals, removing the need to go back and interact with the totem. Players can also upgrade the event Trophy by finishing Personal Goals.

As with 2024's Phasmophobia Crimson Eye event, players will earn rewards by completing certain investigation goals during the Blood Moon. However, when Blood Moon weather is in effect, the game will become more difficult. Ghosts have increased speed, and players' sanity will drain more quickly than normal. That may seem imposing, but all rewards attained during the special event will be boosted by 10%, so there's a lot to gain by taking on the higher risk.

Looking beyond Halloween, there are some big changes on the horizon for fans of the horror game. Kinetic has hinted that Phasmophobia could leave early access in 2026, a milestone that would come after another significant update, Horror 2.0. Developers have said that Horror 2.0 will bring massive changes to the title, making it feel like a brand-new experience, although what exactly that entails is still a little murky. For now, fans can enjoy the Crimson Eye event and keep their finger on Phasmophobia's pulse for future updates.
