Phasmophobia has pushed out a new update for May 2025, fixing several bugs that players had reported. This Phasmophobia patch doesn't include a lot of new content, but it makes the game run more smoothly and addresses recent issues.
Phasmophobia is a horror title where players take on the role of ghost hunters. They explore haunted places, collect evidence of paranormal activity, and try to stay alive. The game came out in early access in September 2020 and has done well, selling over 20 million copies just on PC. Four years later, it came to consoles too, launching on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S right before Halloween 2024. A big part of Phasmophobia’s success is thanks to the steady stream of updates from Kinetic Games, who keeps improving and adding to the game to make sure it stays fresh and enjoyable.
Phasmophobia Map Wish List
Phasmophobia has unlimited potential with future maps, but in my opinion, the best options are simplistic locations made terrifying.
Kinetic Games has released a new hotfix update, version 0.12.1.1, to resolve problems that showed up after the start of Phasmophobia’s Cursed Hollow event. This patch includes a few key adjustments, such as preventing players from placing equipment on Jackalope nest eggs, which now behave consistently with the nests themselves. It also updated the Obake ghost model to allow shapeshifting during seasonal events where it is replaced by an event ghost model.
The patch also fixes a bunch of bugs that were affecting gameplay and the user interface. For example, the audio now plays properly when opening the Cursed Hollow leaflet in the warehouse, and map voting works like it’s supposed to, with vote tapes going back to their original spots after a map is deselected. There were also some visual and performance problems that got fixed, like missing terrain textures on the Point Hope map, issues with DOTS T2 when Phasmophobia's ghosts are nearby, and gamepad sensitivity glitches that came from recent changes to the deadzone settings. One important fix is for VR players: ghosts can now kill them again, restoring a key part of the gameplay.
That said, not everything’s perfect yet. The developers say that lighting glitches might still happen on some maps while the event is live, and they are keeping an eye on that. As for what’s coming next, Kinetic Games recently shared a roadmap for 2025 and beyond. Players can expect to see some major updates, revamped maps, and more seasonal content. To top it off, Phasmophobia just passed a big milestone with over 3 million copies sold on PlayStation, PS VR2, and Xbox Series X/S.
