Plenty of PS5 games have become extremely popular with fans, but Sony has the details on what PS5 game is best, according to players. A recent poll has yielded some interesting results, with a major hit from last year taking the Best PS5 Game award.
PS5 fans got a lot of great games to play over the course of 2022, and more exciting titles are coming to PS5 in 2023. It's a good time to be a fan of the console, especially now that supply issues are dying down and it's easier than ever to buy a PS5.
Sony recently opened The Players’ Choice: Best of PS5 polls to gauge how fans felt about the games available for the home console. Four topics were broached: Best Indie Game, Best Use of the Wireless DualSense Controller, Best Graphical Showcase, and lastly, Best PS5 Game overall. Stray, the cat indie game darling of 2022, took home best indie game. Astro's Playroom was crowned as making best use of the DualSense controller's capabilities. However, the big winner here took home two of the categories: Best Graphical Showcase and Best PS5 Game were both awarded to God of War Ragnarok.
To fans of God of War, this likely isn't a big surprise. God of War Ragnarok was heralded by critics early on and fans heaped praise on it upon release. It also went on to win a myriad of awards prior to this poll, taking home half a dozen awards at The Game Awards last year. The PlayStation Blog also awarded it as its Game of the Year last year, so the players and owners of PS5 systems seem to be in agreement with the critics and Sony itself.
In the end, God of War Ragnarok beat Elden Ring, Horizon Forbidden West, and Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut for the Best Game. It also overtook The Last of Us Part 1, Elden Ring, and Horizon Forbidden West for Best Graphical Showcase. While Sony didn't reveal any official numbers on how close the games were, every one of them is an acclaimed heavy hitter.
While God of War fans had to wait after the game was delayed from its initial 2021 release, it seems the time spent on the title was worth it, bringing the Norse saga of Kratos and Atreus' adventure to a close. Exactly where the series will go next is a mystery, but the next God of War game will have a lot to live up to with both entries in the rebooted franchise being massively popular.
God of War Ragnarok is available now for PS4 and PS5.
