One PlayStation fan shared a nostalgic piece of their gaming past, uncovering an old letter from Sony they received as a kid. As one of the largest companies in the video game space, numerous PlayStation fans have sent messages to Sony about various issues over the years. However, this recently found letter amused many gamers online as it was a response to a rather unusual request regarding the Prince of Persia franchise.

Prince of Persia video games have been around for a long time, with the initial installment being released in 1989. Since then, the franchise created by Jordan Mechner has spanned decades and included games on various consoles, including Sony gaming systems. While many gamers enjoyed playing some of the classic installments in the series during their childhood years, one fan recently revealed they were not so lucky. As a result, they were spurred to write a letter to Sony.

Recently, the writer of that letter shared the official response they received from Sony back when they were a child. Known as kylez_bad_caverns on Reddit, they revealed the old Sony letter had been discovered while their mom was cleaning the house. The letter was over 20 years old, being dated May 20, 2004. According to kylez_bad_caverns, the message from the company was in response to a request they made regarding the popular Prince of Persia franchise. The PlayStation fan revealed they had written to Sony to ask for a more family-friendly game to be released for the series. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, which had been released the year before the letter, was rated Teen by the ESRB, and kylez_bad_caverns said their parents would not let them play the game because of that. As a result, they hoped Sony could make a new game with an E rating.

PlayStation Fan's Nostalgic Letter From Sony

Unsurprisingly, many users on Reddit found this story and the resulting letter from Sony amusing and nostalgic. While the company's letter appeared to follow a standard template, fans still appreciated that the gamer received a reply from the company. Some joked about the circumstances surrounding the letter, with one person wondering if they had also written Ubisoft, the creator of the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. "No, unfortunately I was not quite in the know for how these things worked yet," kylez_bad_caverns humorously replied. In addition, some wondered if the gamer ever managed to check out The Sands of Time. Fortunately, they revealed they had finally played the game after becoming an adult.

It is interesting to see the nostalgic finds gamers uncover. Besides this couple-decade-old Sony letter, other gamers have recently shared unique PlayStation discoveries recently. For example, a rare PS2 bundle featuring LEGO Batman: The Videogame was found by one person while at their dad’s house. Hopefully, even more unexpected and exciting finds will be shared with the gaming community in the coming weeks.
