PlayStation Plus is bringing a fresh lineup of games to its Extra tier this month for its June 17 update. As Sony's answer to the subscription service model, PlayStation Plus has continued to be updated with a roster of exciting titles, and while June still continues this tradition, multiplayer fans in particular are in for two strong releases.
On June 17, both FBC: Firebreak and Battlefield 2042 will be added to the subscription service for PlayStation Plus Extra members. On the surface, these two games don't exactly have much in common, but they boast multiplayer experiences that appeal to two different camps. So, for PlayStation users who have been craving a multiplayer game to pass the time, PlayStation Plus will be delivering this month.
Why Battlefield Labs Making More Controversial Changes Could Be For the Best
Some of the creative decisions for Battlefield Labs' playtesting have been divisive, although now is the perfect time to get them out of the way.
PlayStation Plus Adding FBC: Firebreak and Battlefield 2042 Offers Multiplayer Fans Both a PvE and PvP Option
FBC: Firebreak is a Newcomer to the Multiplayer Space
Developed by Remedy Entertainment, FBC: Firebreak is a huge change of form for the studio. Known for games like the Alan Wake series, Control, and Max Payne, Remedy Entertainment dipping its feet into multiplayer waters is just as much of a twist as the mind-bending stories found within its single-player games. What makes FBC: Firebreak even more intriguing is that it's directly connected to the Alan Wake and Control universes. However, even for gamers who haven't been following Remedy's extended universe, FBC: Firebreak is promising gamers an exciting co-op first-person shooter.
Remedy has already released a content roadmap for FBC: Firebreak that further hints that players will already have a lot to look forward to. Such a drastic change to its proven formula is a big leap for Remedy, but the developer has demonstrated plenty of times in the past that it is skilled at making a genre its own, so it will be fascinating to see how that translates into a co-op game.
FBC: Firebreak is played in three-person teams that are tasked with taking down paranormal creatures that have infiltrated the Federal Bureau of Control.

Battlefield 2042 Pits Gamer Against Gamer
It's no secret that Battlefield 2042 experienced quite a rocky launch. However, since then, the game has gone through a series of updates that have turned Battlefield 2042 into a stronger first-person shooter. As the wait for Battlefield 6 continues, there are bound to be gamers who are in search of a PvP option that will get them pumped up for the next entry in the franchise. Whether one has yet to try out Battlefield 2042 or hasn't experienced the game in its stronger state, those who have PlayStation Plus and want a new PvP option may want to jump in.
FBC: Firebreak has the benefit of being a brand-new game, but three-person co-op experiences aren't for everyone. Battlefield 2042 gives multiplayer lovers the chance to go head-to-head with fellow players instead of pre-programmed monsters.
The release date of the next Battlefield game has yet to be revealed, but it has been confirmed that it will be out before March 2026.
FBC: Firebeak and Battlefield 2042 Offer a Fun One-Two Multiplayer Punch
Granted, there are plenty of multiplayer options to choose from in the industry's ever-growing gaming roster, but June's PlayStation Plus update could be a boon for a lot of subscribers. There are pros and cons to the industry's move towards subscription models, but despite their downsides, getting launch titles like FBC: Firebreak alongside fellow multiplayer titles like Battlefield 2042 showcases how services like PlayStation Plus can sometimes be beneficial.
