Sony PlayStation has revealed its very own set of wireless speakers, called Pulse Elevate. Among other features, these new PlayStation speakers are designed to work with multiple kinds of devices, with low latency, AI technology, and more.
For most gamers, audio is a huge part of the gaming experience, with everything from gameplay sound effects to sweeping music motifs included. How a player chooses to hear that sound, on the other hand, is a completely different matter. Low-quality headphones or speakers can bury some important elements of a game's audio, and Pulse Elevate is looking to solve a lot of the audio problems that players have when gaming.
PS5 Releasing New System Update for September 2025
Sony releases a new PlayStation 5 system update for September 2025, which adds a feature that could be useful for console owners.
PlayStation Introduces Pulse Elevate Speakers
During the PlayStation State of Play, a new speaker collection called Pulse Elevate was revealed. These new speakers are wireless, and are designed to work with the PS5 family of gaming consoles, including the PlayStation Portal, as well as PC and Mac devices. These speakers are designed to deliver ultra-low latency audio to ensure there's no lag between what one sees and hears. With built-in woofers for bass and support for Tempest 3D AudioTech on compatible PS5 games, PlayStation describes the new speakers as being able to play back audio as game developers intended it to sound. The speakers can even be tilted to ensure the audio is oriented to be heard best where a player is located in the room, and EQ adjustments will be available via system menus on PS5 and PC.
Outside simply playing audio from one's game, the Pulse Elevate speakers have a number of interesting features. Pulse Elevate speakers can connect to PS5, PC, and Mac via PlayStation Link, but can simultaneously connect to Bluetooth, allowing users to listen to audio from two different devices at once, like a phone call or music on the Bluetooth side, and game audio coming from the console or computer. The speakers will also include a USB-C connector, and charging docks to make it easy to recharge the speakers once their battery is depleted. "AI-enhanced noise rejection technology" allows the built-in microphone to remove as much background noise as possible when broadcasting a user's voice to other players, making the speakers a viable choice over gaming headsets.
At the moment, the Pulse Elevate speakers are planned to launch with two color options, namely Midnight Black and White. The speakers will release in 2026, with more information regarding the launch date arriving "in the coming months," according to PlayStation.
