A Reddit user known as PurpleVoid13 shared their story of hunting for a shiny Piplup as their starter Pokemon in Brilliant Diamond. Back in 2021, they decided not to begin their adventure in Sinnoh until they got this rare starter, thinking it would take them at most a month to get one. Four years later and after almost 400 hours on Pokemon Brilliant Diamond, they finally obtained a shiny Piplup and left Twinleaf Town. PurpleVoid13 confessed that they screamed when the shiny Piplup appeared, and that they have continued their Pokemon Brilliant Diamond playthrough ever since. Their next challenge is to catch a shiny Dialga, which may take another few hundred hours of gameplay to achieve.
