Pokemon Eggs have been a feature in the series since the second generation with Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver. Eggs can be carried by a player, but they take up one space in their battle party, which can be inconvenient. However, after walking/running/biking a certain number of steps, Eggs will hatch, and a baby Pokemon will come out of them.
In Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl, players can use the daycare center to make two Pokemon procreate in order to develop baby Pokemon Eggs. However, the first Pokemon Egg that players will get is from a Pokemon trainer located in Hearthome City. The Hiker will be standing at the southern end of the city near the entrance to Route 209. Players can speak to him to add the egg to their party, but they'll need a free slot first.
How Do You Hatch Eggs in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl?
Walk It Out!
Players will need to simply travel to hatch the egg given to them by the Hiker, specifically 10000 steps. Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl players should use their pedometer app on their Poketch device to track how many steps they have taken after getting the egg. Biking is the fastest way to hatch them if players are in a hurry to find out what's inside the Hiker's egg.
What's Inside the Hiker's Egg in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl?
Surprise!
Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl players will find a baby Happiny when 10,000 steps have been reached.
Happiny is a Normal-type Pokemon that can evolve into Chansey when trainers level it up during the daytime while it's holding an Oval Stone. To get an Oval Stone, it can be found on the second floor of the Lost Tower.
The Lost Tower is located on Route 209.
From there, Chansey can evolve into Blissey by increasing its friendship level. Having a high special defense level makes Blissey an absolute tank in Pokemon battles and can definitely be a great addition to any trainer's party. Since all three Pokemon in the evolution line are Normal-types, players just need to watch out for potential Fighting-type moves from opponents.

As far as the best natures for Happiny, Chansey, and Blissey, Modest or Bold will be the way to go. Modest raises special attack and lowers physical attack, giving the Happiny line a chance to dish out major damage. As for the Bold nature, it raises defense and lowers attack. However, since their defense and attack are already so low, it might be better to go with Modest nature in this case.
