A Pokemon fan artist gave Drowzee and Hypno a new look by redesigning them as Convergent Pokemon based on a seal and a walrus, respectively. The Pokemon fan artist shared their handiwork on social media and was complimented by their peers for their creativity, and for keeping a few features the same on each Pokemon.
Known as the Hypnosis Pokemon, Drowzee and Hypno first appeared in Pokemon Red and Blue. Originally based on a tapir, Drowzee evolves into Hypno at level 26, taking a form similar to a bearded man. True to their Pokedex classification, both Drowzee and Hypno specialize in hypnotizing their foes to sleep and using moves like Dream Eater to deal damage and sustain themselves. Drowzee's macabre Pokedex entry goes further, stating that these Pokemon prefer to eat children's dreams over adults. Ergo, Drowzee and Hypno can be found outside cities and near different "recreational facilities" where children gather.
Alleged Pokemon Card Thief Arrested
An alleged thief who swiped high-value Pokemon TCG cards from a game store is arrested by the police, but it's not a fully happy ending.
Although Drowzee and Hypno are usually not considered the strongest Psychic types, one Pokemon fan artist gave them a different look altogether. A Reddit user named Matratzfratz remade Drowzee and Hypno as Convergent Pokemon with new names and forms and shared their handiwork on the r/pokemon subreddit. Matratzfratz dubbed these Pokemon Drowzeal and Hyprus, a combination of their original names and the sea-based forms they were given. Drowzeal and Hyprus have blue bodies, with dark blue underbellies and tails. Drowzeal and Hyprus retained the distinct noses of Drowzee and Hypno, but no longer had hands or legs to stand on. In addition, Hypno's beard was instead a mane on Hyprus, and the Walrus Pokemon was given two tusks. Drowzeal was given the Water type, while Hyprus was classified as a Water and Psychic dual-type Pokemon.
Pokemon Fan Draws Convergent Drowzee And Hypno As Sea Creatures
While Hypno holds a pendulum to use Hypnosis and other moves, Hyprus uses a glowing forehead gem that projects psychokinetic rings to attack its enemies. For the shiny versions of Drowzeal and Hyprus, Matratzfratz changed their color palette to match the original forms of Drowzee and Hypno, with yellow bodies and brown undertones. Other than the types, Matratzfratz did not list any stats, moves, or abilities for Drowzeal and Hyprus. For their work, Matratzfratz was complimented by Pokemon fans. One fan compared Drowzeal's and Hyprus' noses to an elephant, while another fan said that both Hyprus' nose and stare were accurate depictions.
With the arrival of Convergent species in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, fan artists have taken to depicting their favorite Pokemon in different ways. Only time will tell what fans will create next.
