Lapras is often cited among the most popular Pokemon due to its iconic, cute design, and for being used by Ash Ketchum in a few episodes of the TV show. The Water/Ice-type creature does not have any official evolution, but it gained a Gigantamax form in Pokemon Sword and Shield, which turns the plesiosaurus-inspired critter into a huge, powerful monster.

While Subag_i’s Lapras still has the same overall shape as the official Pokemon, its skin is completely changed to a more realistic tone, and its shell looks less cartoon-like. Realistic Lapras Pokemon Fan Art
Generally, when creators devise realistic versions of Pokemon, fan art goes in one out of two ways. Either the Pokemon is completely reimagined to resemble a real-life animal, or it maintains the official shape, but gains more realistic skin textures like Subag_i’s Lapras did. A recent example of a Pokemon recreated to have more realistic skin was seen last year. At the time, a fan shared amazing realistic Venusaur art with reptilian-like skin.
Following the opposite trend, another Pokemon fan designed a realistic version of Sprigatito earlier this year by changing the creature’s form. The fan’s new take on Sprigatito made it look like a real-life cat but with some leaves on its neck and face, resembling the patterns used by the Pokemon, impressing the community with the designer’s creativity and ability.
Subag_i’s unique take on Lapras looks amazing, but other fans have recently shared Pokemon fan art depicting other forms of the popular Water/Ice-type creature. For instance, a prolific Pokemon fan artist designed a convergent form for Lapras back in April. Named Snailpras, this new convergent form was a Bug/Ground-type, and instead of being inspired by a plesiosaurus like the original Gen 1 critter, the new design was mostly drawn to resemble a brown snail while still having a face that looked close enough to Lapras’.
