An avid Pokemon fan and artist has created a pair of Mega Evolution concept designs for Gen 6 Pokemon Tyrantrum and Aurorus. The pair of fan-favorite Pokemon - both of which bear strong resemblances to dinosaurs - have each been given a mega makeover, resulting in some unique designs that are catching the attention of quite a few other Pokemon fans.
Introduced at the beginning of Pokemon's sixth generation as a new mechanic in Pokemon X and Y, Mega Evolution is as it sounds, with Pokemon temporarily evolving into a "mega" form of themselves. This significantly boosts their stats, changes their appearance, and may grant a new ability, so long as the Pokemon is holding the correct Mega Stone and the trainer a Key Stone. Although there hasn't been a new Mega Evolution since 2014's Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, the concept has remained a favorite among fans, with Pokemon GO announcing a popular Mega Evolution for its next event.
Over $1 Million Worth of Pokemon Cards Allegedly Stolen
A trading card shop faces a horrible situation not once but twice, with over a staggering $1 million worth of Pokemon TCG cards stolen.
Despite Tyrantrum and Aurorus being part of the same generation that introduced Mega Evolutions, neither Pokemon actually has an official form, leading to fan creations. Created by Reddit user EliteRobo04 and posted to one of the site's Pokemon pages, the Mega Tyrantrum features steely gray skin and darker, muted spiky feathers throughout. The Mega Evolution of the highly-ranked fossil Pokemon features an upgraded tail, looking like a deadly flail. Mega Aurorus gets its colors inverted, along with an extra pair of heads to resemble a hydra. Sharper jaws and black accents help give Mega Aurorus a more intimidating look.
The fan-made Mega Evolution designs are clearly appealing to quite a few fellow Pokemon fans, with the post racking up several dozen upvotes within hours of being posted. While the pair of drawings are undoubtedly admirable, they aren't the only designs the artist has come up with. A few months ago, EliteRobo04 came up with a pair of Mega Evolutions for Darmanitan. Creating Mega forms for both the original and its Galarian Ice-type regional form, the artist follows a similar design motif as the ones above: bigger, spikier, and overall more intimidating.
Mega Good News for Pokemon Mega Evolution Fans
For those who may be unaware, Mega Evolution is making its grand return to the mainline Pokemon series with the highly-anticipated launch of the upcoming title Pokemon Legends: Z-A. With many years passing since the inclusion of Mega Evolutions in new Pokemon titles, over 300 new Pokemon have been introduced. With a current count of just 48 Pokemon with Mega Evolutions against a roster that only continues to grow in size, Pokemon Legends: Z-A Mega Evolutions need to make up for lost time. In the interim, Pokemon fans will surely be designing more Mega Evolutions of their own.
