A Pokemon fan who designed a Wii console shaped like a Porygon followed up on their previous work by customizing a Wii U to look like a Porygon2 and a Switch console inspired by Porygon-Z. The Pokemon fan posted their finished handiwork of their Porygon2 Wii U and Porygon-Z Switch, and shared the steps they took to make their custom consoles possible.
Known as the Virtual Pokemon, Porygon first appeared in Pokemon Red and Blue as a prize from Celadon City's infamous Game Corner. With a crystalline, duck-shaped body colored blue and pink, Porygon's design is among the most recognizable in the Pokemon franchise. Porygon received two evolutions, Porygon2 and Porygon-Z, in the second and fourth generations respectively. Although the Porygon line is not used often in battle, it can use the unique moves Conversion and Conversion 2 to alter its type from the standard Normal-type. The Porygon line can be found in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet after unlocking the Indigo Disk DLC.
Pokemon Home Gets New Update for April 2025
Pokemon Home launches its April 2025 update, which fixes some bugs and introduces a new feature for some players to enjoy as they wish.
After posting a Porygon-shaped Wii console that used 3D-printed parts, a Pokemon fan crafted two more consoles themed around Porygon's later forms. On the r/Pokemon subreddit, content creator BigRig Creates shared the successors to their previous "PorWiigon" system, dubbed the "PorWiigon U" and the "Porygon Zwitch" consoles. BigRig Creates shared the creative process in a YouTube video of how they converted a Wii U console to look like Porygon2, along with a Porygon-Z Switch holder. Like the previous PorWiigon system, the PorWiigon U required some extra electronic parts that would be put into Porygon2's pink and blue body. Porygon2's chest cavity housed the Wii U console horizontally, along with the Wii U GamePad. The Wii U was painted blue after it was taken apart.
Pokemon Fan Makes Custom Porygon2 Wii U and Porygon-Z Switch Consoles
During the customization process for the Wii U, BigRig Creates had some difficulty reassembling the troublesome Wii U GamePad after painting it pink to match Porygon2. BigRig Creates subsequently fired up Pokemon Rumble U, the only Wii U title to feature Porygon2. For the Porygon-Z Switch holder, the process was more straightforward. After 3D-printing Porygon-Z's face and body, BigRig Creates stated the Virtual Pokemon's chest would house the Switch system along with a portable USB-C dock to keep the tablet charged. Two magnetic rails along with blue Joy-Con controllers were used for its arms, and a desk clamp was added to keep Porygon-Z in place.
BigRig Creates shared footage of Porygon-Z from Pokemon Legends: Arceus in Jubilife Village to close the video. With the Switch 2 and Pokemon Legends: Z-A arriving throughout 2025, only time will tell if a new Porygon form will appear that would require another custom system from BigRig Creates.
