Summary
- Fans create unique Pokemon concepts like Flying-type Eeveelution Breezeon with gliding wings.
- Some fans worry fan creations may hinder Game Freak from creating official new Eeveelutions.
- Despite fan designs, the possibility of new Eeveelutions remains uncertain in the Pokemon franchise.
A Pokemon fan has designed their own version of a Flying-type evolution of Eevee, with cute results. With no sign of a new Eeveelution in the works from official Pokemon sources, fans keep coming up with their own concepts to delight fans of the unique pocket monster.
Over the years, a lot of Pokemon have come along that have more complex methods of evolution than by simply leveling up or having an elemental stone used on them. Some Pokemon have gained branching evolutions, where trainers may either end up surprised by what they get or have to do some research beforehand to make a decision in advance. However, Eevee still stands out as unique due to the fact that it has a whopping eight different evolutions it can undergo.
Pokemon Fan Creates Impressive Crochet Espeon
An artistically talented Pokemon fan is catching the attention of thousands for their impressive crocheted version of Espeon.
While those eight are a lot, some fans want Eevee to have more evolutions, including Patient-Ambition9826. This fan shared their own idea for a Flying-type Eeveelution, which they've dubbed Breezeon. The Flying-type Eevee still bears a strong resemblance to Eevee and the rest of its evolutionary family, but with large tufts sticking out of its ears and cheeks, and a split tail. The most noticeable new feature is the patagium, or the skin flap extending from Breezeon's front legs. This flap allows the Pokemon to spread its front limbs to create gliding wings, akin to a real-world flying squirrel, or fellow Pokemon Emolga. The Pokemon fan also included a Shiny variant, which takes Breezeon's muted brown palette and turns it bluish-green.
Pokemon Fans Love Design, But Some Aren't Happy
Plenty of Pokemon fans have complimented Patient-Ambition9826 on their work and design, with many liking the idea of an Eeveelution that's partially based upon flying squirrels. Some have made suggestions, like swapping the coloring so that the green version becomes the standard Breezeon, while others have suggested changing the Pokemon's size. However, the biggest concern is that every neat creation like this one will result in one less chance at actually getting a new Eeveelution from Game Freak. Ever since it came to light that the developer canceled a new Eevee evolution because it bore too strong a resemblance to a fan creation, the fandom has been worried about more great fanart potentially preventing a new form from ever being added to the series.
Whether Eevee ever sees another evolution remains to be seen, though it's clear that the players are more than eager for one. It's possible that Eeevee could get a new evolution when a new type is introduced to the Pokemon franchise, but even then, the company would likely have to reveal it early on to prevent fans from coming up with the same idea as the official developers.
