  • Fusing Pokemon is a popular topic for fan artists, allowing creativity in blending different creature designs together.

A Pokemon fan artist combined the creatures Tyranitar and Tyrantrum into a new monster and shared their finished handiwork on social media. The Pokemon chosen for this fan art project have names and inspirations taken from the Tyrannosaurus Rex, and Pokemon trainers complimented the artist for their handiwork.

Known as the Armor Pokemon, Tyranitar first appeared in Pokemon Gold and Silver as the pseudo-legendary creature of the Johto region. Tyranitar is the fully evolved form of Larvitar and Pupitar, and is currently the only Pokemon with Rock and Dark as its type pairing. Tyranitar was recently featured in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet as a Seven-Star Tera Raid boss. As for Tyrantrum, the Despot Pokemon is one of the Kalos region's fossil Pokemon, and a Rock and Dragon dual-type monster. Tyrantrum evolves from Tyrunt starting at level 39 when leveled up during the day. Tyranitar and Tyrantrum are known for their high physical attack and defense stats, making them tough foes to beat.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Announce Golden Week Tera Raid and Outbreak Event

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet reveal an extended Tera Raid and Mass Outbreak event in honor of the upcoming Golden Week festivities.

Although Tyranitar and Tyrantrum are among the toughest Rock-type Pokemon individually, one Pokemon fan artist drew a fusion concept of what the two monsters would look like when fused. On the r/pokemon subreddit, a user named Jurroth combined Tyranitar's bulkier body with some of Tyrantrum's most distinct features to form their completed fusion concept art. Tyranitar's blue scales on its chest were kept intact, but its green hide was changed to match Tyrantrum's red. Tyrantrum's teeth and beard-like chin were added to Tyranitar's gaping maw. Both Rock-type Pokemon have the prefix of "Tyran" in their names, and have often been compared to Tyrannosaurus Rex in their names and designs.

Pokemon Fan Artist Fuses Together Tyranitar And Tyrantrum Into A Ferocious Creation

Tyrantrum's claws, mane, and tail were added to Tyranitar's body to complete the transformation. The fused rock Pokemon had a roaring pose, with its head turned toward the drawing's right side and glaring at an unseen target. In response, Pokemon fans used the names "Tyrantar" and "Tyranitrum" as portmanteaus for the fused Tyranitar and Tyrantrum artwork, and complimented Jurroth for their handiwork. With Tyranitar confirmed to appear in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, it remains to be seen if Tyrantrum will follow suit.

Fusing two or more Pokemon into a new critter remains a reliable topic for Pokemon fan artists to tap into, as critters like Sylveon and Hisuian Zoroark have previously been used as fusion art subjects. Additionally, fan-made romhacks like Pokemon Infinite Fusion have become popular outlets for fans to delve into concepts not heavily featured in official Pokemon game releases.
