Pokemon GO's latest update is slowly rolling out to the Google Play store and although it is not available to the majority of users at this point, there is still the APK code to teardown and start inspecting while recovering from the exciting Valentine's Day events. The update code for 0.167.0 hints at some very exciting setup for features that are likely arriving in the near future.

Prior datamines have suggested that Shadow Eggs are on their way to Pokemon GO and this APK code offers further evidence. Additional Team GO Rocket Egg code adds the actual shadow egg assets to the game, which likely means the items are going to go live very soon. Perhaps there will be an upcoming Team GO Rocket event in Pokemon GO to unveil the new feature.

Although Shadow Eggs are very exciting, they are far from the only thing hinted at in the code teardown. There's a lot to dig into, but luckily the team at Pokemon GO Hub have ripped through all the code and we can report back on the highlights...

Shadow and Purified Pokemon Damage Buff

"It looks like Shadow and Purified Pokemon will do more damage, and Shadow Pokemon will get a boost to their attack and defence as well. Purified Pokemon will get an attack bonus when they face Shadow Pokemon. Moves that are boosted for Shadow Pokemon will be shown that they have a bonus."

Some other highlights of the APK code include tweaks to how Buddy Pokemon will appear on the map and interact with trainers. There are also some minor tweaks to Battle League and the addition of the move Rock Wrecker, which will likely be put to good use on Community Day.

For now, players may want to keep hunting down the best Unova Pokemon in the game if improving their Battle Raid rosters is their primary goal. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
