The new year is right around the corner and Pokemon GO players finally are getting the details they have been waiting for about the coming months. The Season of Mythical Wishes continues in January and although players learned the January Community Day dates a few weeks ago, it's only now that Niantic is ready to confirm which Pokemon will be in the spotlight when January 7 rolls around.

As always, the featured Community Day Pokemon will be experiencing greatly increased spawn rates during the event window and players will be able to use the opportunity to grind Chespin Candy, shiny encounters, and enjoy other bonuses that will be active throughout the day. Pokemon GO Community Days are a stable of the mobile AR experience at this point, so even the most casual players likely know what to expect.

January 2023's event is going to offer 1/4 distance egg hatching and 2x Candy, which are a pretty decent set of incentives. The Stardust bonus is missing this time around which makes it slightly less appealing to players who are looking to grind the game's most valuable resource, but there's still plenty of motivation for both PvE and PvP fans to spend some in-game time collection Chespin and securing the Exclusive Move evolution - Chesnaught with Frenzy Plant.

Pokemon Gave Up Chespin

We’re excited to announce that Chespin, the Spiny Nut Pokémon, will be featured during January 2023 Community Day!

Event Bonuses

  • 2× Candy for catching Pokémon.
  • 2× chance for Trainers level 31 and up to receive Candy XL from catching Pokemon.
  • 1/4 Egg Hatch Distance when Eggs are placed in an Incubator during the event period.
  • Lure Modules activated during the event will last for three hours.
  • Incense activated during the event will last for three hours.
  • Incense (excluding Daily Adventure Incense) activated during the event will last for three hours.
  • Take a few snapshots during Community Day for a surprise!
  • One additional Special Trade can be made, for a maximum of two for the day.
  • Trades made during the event will require 50% less Stardust.

Even as the colder months arrive, Niantic is still pushing players to get out and about during the event and rack up some KMs to hatch those Eggs during the day. The Season of Mythical Wishes has some pretty decent hatches in rotation, so it should be worth bundling up and exploring town for a few hours if the weather cooperates. In the week ahead, we should learn more about what other events will be arriving during the first weeks of 2023 and the second month of the game's latest season.
