Dark Skies is the definitive event of the Gygantamax Journey in Pokemon GO, featuring a massive spree of Dynamax Battles all across the world. Trainers need to prepare themselves for the arrival of Eternatus, and this event will help them hone their battle skills, as well as their Pokemon lineups to face this dangerous beast in the upcoming Pokemon GO: Fest event.

Pokemon GO Dark Skies Bonuses, Date & Time
The Pokemon GO Dark Skies event will last from August 18, 2025, at 10 AM to Friday, August 23, 2025, at 10 AM Local Time. Players will have plenty of time to participate in featured Dynamax Battles, to capture every Gygantamax Pokemon that has been released until the date.
During this event, Dynamax Energy will be greatly boosted, with more Power Spots being active, with a daily refresh rate. On the other hand, the Max Particle collection limit will be increased while the event lasts. And finally, the daily limit for Raids will be increased to 30. Pokemon GO Dark Skies Dynamax Battles Schedule
Starting August 18, 2025 at 10 AM, Pokemon GO Dark Skies is hosting a series of Dynamax Battles to provide players with extra chances to complete their Dynamax Pokemon collection.
On Monday, August 18, the following Dynamax Battles will be active:
- Dynamax Beldum
- Dynamax Caterpie
- Dynamax Ghastly
- Dynamax Krabby
- Dynamax Shuckle
- Dynamax Sableye
- Dynamax Beldum
- Dynamax Latias
- Dynamax Latios
- Dynamax Trubbish
- Dynamax Sobble
- Dynamax Hatenna
From all the previously mentioned Pokemon, only Sobble and Hatenna are Shiny Locked, the rest can be Shiny. Players will have yet another chance to catch Dynamax Latias and Latios during the first rounds of Dynamax Battles.
From August 19 to 20, these Dynamax Pokemon can appear in all gyms:

- Dynamax Omanyte
- Dynamax Kabuto
- Dynamax Articuno
- Dynamax Moltres
- Dynamax Zapdos
- Dynamax Pidove
- Dynamax Drilbur

In this case, the only Shiny Locked Pokemon will be Scorbunny. The rest of the featured species can appear in their Shiny versions.
From August 21 to 22, the final rounds of Dynamax Battles will feature the following Pokemon:

- Dynamax Raikou
- Dynamax Suicune
- Dynamax Entei
- Dynamax Wailmer
- Dynamax Darumaka

All of the mentioned Pokemon from above, with the exception of Grookey can be encountered in their Shiny versions.
Pokemon GO Dark Skies All Raid Battles
Starting August 18 at 10 AM, Pokemon GO will also host another wave of Zacian and Zamazenta Raids. These Legendary Pokemon from the Galar region can be found in their Shiny versions, and the raids for both Pokemon will be available from August 18 to August 20, then for Zacian during August 21, and finally, Zamazenta 5-Star Raids will be held on August 22, 2025, to close the event.
Players should also take note that Crowned Zacian and Zamazenta, and their Shiny versions will be back on Special 5-Star Raids following the schedule detailed below:
- Crowned Sword Zacian: Thursday, August 21, from 6 to 7 PM local time.
- Crowned Shield Zamazenta: Friday, August 22, from 6 to 7 PM local time.
Pokemon GO Dark Skies Timed Research
A Timed Research focused on winning Max Battles will be available throughout the Dark Skies event in Pokemon GO. Players can complete the research tasks to earn rewards like Zacian Candy, Zamazenta Candy, and encounters with Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble.
