Pokemon GO encourages players to get out into the real world to catch Pokemon, spin PokeStops, and otherwise engage with the game. It's a location-based augmented reality game, after all. However, there's plenty to do and see in the app itself, with Pokemon GO having its fair share of Easter Eggs for fans to discover.
Pokemon GO Players Have a New Master Ball to Unlock
Pokemon GO players have yet another opportunity to add a Master Ball to their arsenal.
One such Easter Egg has gone unnoticed by thousands of players, if a recent Reddit post is any indication. Reddit user segwaysegue recently discovered that the die pin on Spark's collar shows the numbers 1, 3, and 5. As it so happens, Electric-type Pokemon Jolteon's Pokedex number is 135. Since Spark is associated with Electric-types, this does seem to be a deliberate reference by Niantic. The post has generated over 12,000 upvotes at the time of this writing, indicating that many Pokemon GO players have never connected these dots before. Of course, there's always the chance that this is purely coincidence, though that seems unlikely.
Team Instinct Leader Spark's Pin References Jolteon
Besides the fact that Spark and Jolteon are both associated with electricty, players can actually nickname their Eevee "Sparky" to force it to evolve into Jolteon. The Pokemon GO Eevee name trick is inspired by the anime series and not the Team Instinct leader, but it does further drive home the point that "Jolteon" and "Spark" are tied together.
The fact that it has taken over years for Pokemon GO players to discover this Easter Egg may have fans wondering if there are other well-hidden Easter Eggs waiting to be discovered in the augmented reality mobile game. Pokemon GO adds new content on a regular basis, which means that there may be new fun references added over time as well.
Pokemon GO players can dig through the game in search of similar Easter Eggs, though there doesn't seem to be anything similar going on with the Team Mystic and Team Valor leaders. Or if there is, it just hasn't been discovered yet.
