Pokemon GO's buddy mechanic is quite a handy feature for getting candy and a plethora of other stuff. While some legendary Pokemon only yield candies after players walk 20 km with them, others are much more convenient to explore with as they have a much lower threshold of 1km.

That's not all, having a buddy Pokemon has a plethora of other benefits too. For instance, some Pokemon such as the likes of Eevee and Pancham evolve only when players have them as their buddies. Not to forget, it is quite useful for the GO Battle League as well. For players wondering which buddy Pokemon yield candies for every 1km walked with them, here is what they need to know.

How To Get Candy Through 1km Buddy Pokemon

pokemon go captain's cap pikachu

Before players can get candy, it is crucial that they set the Pokemon as their buddy. That's a pretty simple process and all players need to do is click on their avatar at the bottom left part of the screen. For players who have not chosen a buddy before, only their avatar will be displayed. Then, one needs to click on the choose buddy option right below the level and then click on one of the Pokemon to make it their buddy. For players who already have a buddy Pokemon, they will be able to see another icon with their buddy beside their avatar. After clicking on it, they will be able to see the swap buddies option which will allow them to change to a different Pokemon.

After that's done, players are all set to adventure with their all-new buddy. Once players start walking, the game tracks the distance they traversed and for every 1km they walk with certain Pokemon, they will get a candy. For those who are looking to farm those candies even faster, they can get Poffins, which reduces the distance required by half. This means that players will start getting candies every 500 meters, and the effect of Poffins lasts for about six hours. Additionally, players also get three hearts for feeding their buddy a Poffin.
