Since its introduction in Pokemon Sun & Moon, Mimikyu has been a fan-favorite Pokemon for its design and its in-game lore. Mimikyu is explained as being a lonely Pokemon in several Pokedex entries, wearing a costume based on Pikachu to get closer to people and Pokemon while its interior causes people who see it to die. Mimikyu has been one of Pokemon's most popular creatures since its initial debut, re-appearing in both Sword & Shield and Scarlet & Violet.
