Pokemon GO has officially revealed the new Road to Kalos event, featuring a plethora of unique Pokemon variants and Legendary Pokemon. The event will kick off on February 23 and run up until the start of GO Tour: Kalos, with each day focusing on a different region and its Legendary Pokemon. Every day will offer boosted spawn rates for Pokemon from each of the five regions preceding Kalos in the series, alongside special raids for Legendary Pokemon including the Legendary Birds from Kanto and the box Legendaries from each game. Pokemon GO will also grant some exclusive attacks for its Legendary Pokemon, with every featured Pokemon knowing their signature move as a Charged Attack.
Legendary Pokemon are far from the only special Pokemon featured during Road to Kalos. Each day of the event will include a special Pikachu variant based on that day's region, with the Pikachu donning the same hat worn by characters like Red, Ethan, Brendan, and more. The highlighted Pokemon will also have the chance to boast a special background inspired by different Pokemon games from throughout the series. Road to Kalos will even give fans the chance to hatch some rare Pokemon from 2 km eggs during the event, containing "pseudo-Legendary" Pokemon like Larvitar, Bagon, Beldum, and Gible.
Road to Kalos Leads into Pokemon GO's First Big Event of the Year
Road to Kalos is primed to be the perfect way for Pokemon GO fans to kick off the GO Tour season with some special festivities. As the name suggests, GO Tour: Kalos will put the focus on the Kalos region first featured in Pokemon X and Y, offering boosted spawn rates for Pokemon found in the region. Pokemon GO will put the box legendaries for the sixth-generation Pokemon games in the spotlight at the event's conclusion, giving fans the chance to catch either Xerneas or Yveltal with a special background. Players who buy the GO Pass Deluxe for Road to Kalos will even be able to obtain a special encounter with Hoopa Unbound during the precursor event.
Pokemon GO's newest GO Tour will coincide with the franchise celebrating a major milestone this year. 2026 officially marks the 30th anniversary of the Pokemon franchise, with lots expected to be in store for the series throughout the year. Pokemon is heavily rumored to be planning a grand reveal for its tenth generation of main-series games during this year's Pokemon Day livestream, with leaks already starting to swirl surrounding the next games. Pokemon GO fans should keep an eye out for more exciting news to come about the mobile game as the franchise celebrates a huge anniversary.
