The Lengedary Giants are returning to Pokemon GO just ahead of GO Fest 2025, Niantic has announced. They will be available over the course of a five-day Pokemon GO event packed with raids and a variety of bonuses.
The Legendary Giants were first introduced to the hit mobile game during the summer of 2018. While they were much easier to catch compared to the mainline Pokemon RPGs, the opportunities to obtain them in Pokemon GO were still few and far between.
Pokemon GO Selling $100 Premier Access Add-On
Pokemon GO reveals a Premier Access add-on that players can buy that will grant a lot of goodies and perks, but it also costs a hundred dollars.
Pokemon GO players will soon have another chance to hunt for Legendary Giants, which are returning as part of the newly announced Ancients Recovered event. The promotion will run from June 23 to June 27. Regirock, Regice, Registeel, Regieleki, Regidrago, and Regigigas will cycle through raids during the first four days of the event, whereas all six of them will be obtainable on the final day.
Since Pokemon GO has already released the shiny variants of all the Legendary Giants, each Legendary featured in the upcoming event will have a chance to be shiny. They will appear in raids between 6pm and 7pm local time every day. Legendary Giants caught during Raid Hour will know special attacks—most of them charged moves, except for Regidrago, which will have the fast attack Dragon Breath. Ancients Recovered will also introduce three Max Battles, featuring the Gigantamax variants of Rillaboom, Cinderace, and Inteleon. As per usual, these cooperative battles for up to 40 players will be available by interacting with Power Spots.
New Pokemon GO Timed Research will be available over the course of Ancients Recovered, offering players a chance to earn at least one of each Legendary Giants. Those who complete all the tasks on offer will also be rewarded with an opportunity to "make a surprise choice," Niantic said, without elaborating on what this mysterious choice might be. The raid-themed Timed Research will be available to complete multiple times. Separately, the event will introduce Fleeting Legends Timed Research, a paid promotion that leads to an encounter with the Galarian variant of one of the Legendary Birds. Priced at $7.99, the research allows players to choose which bird to encounter.
Ancients Recovered will also give players around the world the opportunity to collaborate on a new Global Challenge. If successful, participants will unlock several bonuses that will remain active through the end of GO Fest 2025 on June 29. These include faster Party Power charge times in raids and an increased catch rate with Premier Balls after raids.

Ancients Recovered Timed Research: Legendary Giants
Legendary giants raid–themed Timed Research will be available throughout the event!
Complete the research tasks to earn encounters with the following event-themed Pokémon:

Trainers who complete this Timed Research will get to make a surprise choice, and they’ll have the opportunity to repeat the research multiple times.
Ancients Recovered Timed Research: Fleeting Legends Ticket
The ticket will be available for purchase from June 23 at 10:00 a.m. To June 29 at 6:00 p.m. Local time.
For US$7.99 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), you’ll receive event-exclusive Timed Research leading to an encounter with your choice of Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, or Galarian Moltres.
Trainers will be able to purchase and gift tickets to any of their Pokémon GO friends that they have achieved a Friendship level of Great Friends or higher. Please note that purchases—including those made for other Trainers—are non-refundable (subject to applicable law and the exceptions set forth in the Terms of Service). Tickets cannot be purchased with PokéCoins.

The Fleeting Legends Ultra Ticket Box will be available on the Pokémon GO Web Store for US$7.99 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency). This includes an event Timed Research ticket, a bonus Premium Battle Pass, one Max Particle Pack, and five Ultra Balls!
New Pokemon Backgrounds Debut
After catching certain Pokémon from Raid Battles, Trainers will have a chance to receive Special Backgrounds! These souvenir backgrounds will appear on a Pokémon’s summary page, similar to the Location Backgrounds that are available exclusively at in-person events.
Global Challenge
Trainers around the world will be able to work together to complete a Global Challenge during the event! If the challenge is completed in time, all Trainers will benefit from the following bonuses until the end of 2025’s global GO Fest event:
- Premier Balls will be more effective at catching Pokémon after raids.
- Party Power will charge faster in raids.
Please note that the Ancients Recovered Global Challenge will run from Sunday, June 22, at 1:00 p.m. PDT (20:00 UTC) to June 27, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. PDT (20:00 UTC).
Event Bonuses
- Remote Raid Pass limit increased to 30 from Monday, June 23, to Thursday, June 26, 2025.
- No Remote Raid limit from Friday, June 27, to Sunday, June 29, 2025.
