Niantic has revealed its new Pokemon GO Fossil Research Day event will be held this August with event-themed Field Research tasks and several event bonuses. Like other Pokemon GO events, the new Research Day event presents a valuable opportunity for players missing out on certain Pokemon while giving veteran Pokemon Trainers another chance to catch their next Shiny.

Pokemon GO recently celebrated its ninth anniversary with the Pokemon GO Fest 2025: Global event, which allowed players from around the world to team up and catch Volcanion and other Pokemon together. Events like Pokemon GO Fest and Community Day give players more opportunities to catch featured Pokemon and obtain rewards like Stardust and Candy. As July winds down, Niantic is revealing some of its new Pokemon GO events for August 2025, which now include the new Fossil Research Day event.
