Summary
- A Pokemon GO player was gifted a rare Armored Mewtwo by a friend who quit playing the mobile game.
- Armored Mewtwo can currently only be obtained via a Special Trade.
A Pokemon GO player has shared a jaw-dropping trade with the community, revealing they received a super-rare Pokemon as a gift from a friend who stopped playing the Augmented Reality mobile game. Pokemon GO players can perform Special Trades with friends to transfer Legendary, Ultra Beasts, and Shiny Pokemon, but the amount of Stardust it costs to make these trades is much higher.
Pokemon GO was first launched in 2016 and took the community by storm thanks to its free-to-play model and gameplay that used a player’s GPS to present pocket monsters to capture, train, and battle virtually. In a surprising move, Pokemon GO was sold to Monopoly GO developer Scopely back in March, which caused some unrest in the mobile game community out of fear about how the content would be handled in the future.

Posted on Reddit by thejrphillips, a screenshot was shared on the Pokemon GO subreddit, showing the player’s newly-obtained Armored Mewtwo, similar to another Pokemon GO player who received a rare Mewtwo during a trade. The post stated this trainer received the super-rare variant from a friend who stopped playing, and the stats noted the original owner caught the Armored Mewtwo back in July 2019 in Edinburgh, Scotland. It’s safe to say some of the Pokemon community were jealous that the player managed to get lucky in receiving such a rare gift, and others were very confused by the Armored Mewtwo’s nickname.
Pokemon GO Player Receives Armored Mewtwo From a Friend Who Stopped Playing
The Armored Mewtwo was named “82101413CoEq25,” and many were confused about why the title was so complicated. Thankfully, a few Redditors explained that some players like to put the Pokemon’s individual stats in the name, so it’s easier to compare with others. There are limited ways to obtain Armored Mewtwo in Pokemon GO, only previously available during the Pokemon’s 5-Star Raid Battle period that took place between July 10, 2019, to July 31, 2019. Luckily, this player managed to bag their own through a Special Trade.
Looking forward to the mobile game’s content for the month ahead, Pokemon GO revealed its May Shadow Raid Day plans, announcing an event headlined by Regigigas. Players can also pocket extra Raid Passes and shiny Regigigas within the event’s timeframe, and Remote Raid Passes can be used to participate in Shadow Raids. Furthermore, players who purchase the $5 ticket for Shadow Regigigas Raid Day can gain up to 14 Raid Passes from Gyms and have a better chance of bagging Candy XL from Raids.
