Pokemon GO announced the debut of the Applin evolutionary line on April 24 with the start of the Sweet Discoveries event. Pokemon GO continues to add monsters from the nine generations, including Galar, which has more than 40 critters available in the game.

Pokemon GO added Galarian Wheezing in November 2019 to celebrate the release of Pokemon Sword and Shield, with Sirfetch'd and Ponyta debuting in October of the same year to celebrate the release of Sword and Shield's DLC The Crown Tundra. Since then, Galarian Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres debuted in July 2022, and Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble in September 2024. Now, the developers have announced a new event that will start in the coming weeks, bringing another Galar monster.

Pokemon GO announces a new Max Battle Weekend, and trainers will soon have the chance to battle Dynamax Entei for the first time.

Pokemon GO will add Applin at the start of the Sweet Discoveries event. Starting on Thursday, April 24, at 10 am and ending on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 8 pm local time, the Gen 8 Pokemon will appear in the wild and as a Timed Research reward. Players can use 200 Applin Candy and 20 Tart Apples to evolve Apple in Flappe, or 200 Applin Candy and 20 Sweet Apples to evolve Applin in Appletun. Trainers will also find apples during the event, and tapping on them will reward them with Sweet Apples, Tart Apples, or encounters with Pokemon, including Applin.

Several bonuses will be available during the event, including an increased chance of finding Delibird and Shiny Skwoet, and double Candy when catching Pokemon. The wild spawns of 13 pocket monsters will be increased, including Bounsweet, and Bidoof. 7 km eggs can hatch Munchlax, Delibird, Cherubi, and Skwovet. New Field Research, Timed Research, and PokeStop Showcases tasks will be added. A $1.99 Paid Timed Research will be available, rewarding trainers with two Mossy Lure Modules, and encounters with event Pokemon. Two new avatar items will be available in-game - an Applin headband and apron - while the Pokemon GO Web Store will launch a $1.99 Ultra Box with two Mossy Lure Modules and event-themed encounters as rewards.

Applin isn't Galar's only Pokemon addition, as Gossifleur and Edelgoss debuted at the beginning of April with the start of the Spring to Spring event. The month also holds other exciting events, such as the debut of Tinkatink in Pokemon GO on April 16 and Dynamax Entei in a Max Battle Weekend that will take place between April 26 and 27.
