Pokemon GO has announced the release of Gigantamax Machamp for the game's next Max Battle Day. The event is scheduled for May 25, and Pokemon GO players can expect multiple limited bonuses and Timed Research.

While there are several Dynamax Pokemon available in Pokemon GO, only eight Gigantamax monsters have made their debut since the Max Out season in September 2024. Some fan-favorite Gigantamax critters were added the same year, including the Kanto starters, Gengar, and Lapras. More recently, Pokemon GO added Gigantamax Snorlax in its April 2025 Max Battle Day. Now, yet another Gen 1 Gigantamax pocket monster is coming to the mobile game.

Gigantamax Machamp is making its Pokemon GO debut during the next Max Battle Day on Sunday, May 25, 2025. The event will run from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time, and players can challenge Gigantamax Machamp in six-star Max Battles. Fans will also have a chance to encounter a shiny version of the monster. Some limited bonuses are in place as well for trainers, including double Max Particles from exploring. Gigantamax Machamp was previously teased in the trailer for Pokemon GO's Might and Mastery Season and is the first Fighting-type Pokemon of this kind in the game. It is worth noting that Gigantamax Machamp cannot be transferred to Pokemon HOME.

Gigantamax Machamp Debuts in Pokemon GO on Upcoming Max Battle Day

  • When: Sunday, May 25, 2025, from 2 PM to 5 PM local time
  • New Pokemon: Gigantamax Machamp (can be shiny)
  • Event Bonuses:
    • Max Particle collection limit increased to 1,600.
    • All Power Spots will host Gigantamax Battles.
    • Power Spots will refresh more frequently.
    • 8× Max Particles from Power Spots.
    • Two additional Special Trades.

  • Bonuses active on May 25, 2025, from 12 am to 5 pm local time:
    • 2× Max Particles from exploring.
    • 1/4 adventuring distance to receive Max Particles.

  • Timed Research:
    • From May 19 at 6:00 PM to May 25 at 5:00 PM
    • Rewards: encounter with Dynamax Beldum (can be shiny), Candy, Max Particles

  • $5 Event Ticket
    • 1 Max Mushroom
    • 25,000 XP
    • 2× XP from Max Battles
    • Max Particle collection limit increased to 5,600

During the upcoming Max Battle Day, all Power Spots will host Gigantamax raids, and the Max Particle limit will be increased to 1,600, which is double the usual daily limit. On the day of the event, from 12:00 AM to 5:00 PM, players will only need to walk a quarter of the distance to receive Max Particles as well. To help players add Gigantamax Machamp to their Pokedex, the event will allow two additional Special Trades between trainers. Additionally, from May 19 to 25, there will be new Timed Research that grants Dynamax Beldum as a reward, which is a strong counter for Gigantamax Machamp. Finally, players can buy a $5 event ticket to access exclusive Timed Research with extra XP, 1 Max Mushroom, and a Max Particle limit increase to 5,600.

Aside from Gigantamax Machamp, the Might and Mastery Season is expected to release the highly anticipated Dynamax Pokemon Urshifu. The season is set to end on June 3, so Pokemon GO will likely add the creature in the coming weeks. In the meantime, players can look forward to other exciting releases planned for May, like Kingambit's Pokemon GO debut for the Crown Clash event or the Shadow Regigigas Raid Day.
