Pokemon GO has announced the addition of Gigantamax Snorlax in an event taking place on April 19. The debut of the Normal-type variant will be the ninth Gigantamax Pokemon to arrive in Pokemon GO and the seventh from Kanto.
Not long after the start of the Max Out season in September 2024, Pokemon GO added the Gigantamax forms of the Kanto starters, with Gigantamax Gengar debuting in October to celebrate Halloween. The year 2024 ended with the additions of Gigantamax Toxtricity and Lapras in November and December, while 2025 began with Gigantamax Kingler's debut in Pokemon GO in February. Now, players will see the arrival of yet another Pokemon, adding the variant of a popular critter.

One Pokemon GO player is incredibly lucky, and shares the result of their successful walk filled with shiny Pokemon encounters.
Gigantamax Snorlax will debut in Pokemon GO on a Max Battle Day scheduled for April 19. The event will run from 2 to 5 pm local time, and during this time trainers will battle the Pokemon in six-star Max Battles, with the chance of finding a shiny one. Like other events of this type, Gigantamax Snorlax cannot be transferred to Pokemon Home. On the other hand, players can use Max Mushrooms, items that temporarily double the damage that players' Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokemon cause in Max Battles.

During Max Battle Day, players can collect up to 1,600 Max Particles and make two additional Special Trades. Power Spots will generate eight times as many particles and host Gigantamax Battles. On April 19, from 12 am to 5 pm local time, players will receive twice as many Max Particles when exploring, and only ¼ of the distance to earn particles will be required. A Timed Research in anticipation of the event will be available from April 16 at 6 pm to April 19 at 5 pm, rewarding Candy, Max Particles, and an encounter with Dynamax Machop. A $5 ticket will give access to a themed Timed Research, with rewards such as 1 Max Mushroom and a Max Particles collection limit increased to 5,600. The web store will sell a $4.99 box with an event ticket and a Max Particle Pack.
With a few weeks to go until the end of March, players already know part of the Pokemon GO activity calendar for April. In addition to the debut of Gigantamax, Paldean Tauros will debut in the game during Stunning Styles, an event that will start on April 3. Before that, other events await players in March, including the debut of Sizzlipede at Bug Out 2025 (April 26-30) and the Fuzzy Buddy Research Day on March 29.
