There's quite a bit happening right now in Pokemon GO. Niantic has not only pushed forward a new feature called 'Routes,' but the developers have also added the legendary generation 6 Pokemon, Zygarde, into the game alongside the Blaze New Trails event. With the event comes special research tasks involving Zygarde and the new Routes mechanic.

The only way to get Zygarde in Pokemon GO is to complete the third step of the From A to Zygarde Special Research. The tasks are to simply claim the rewards, which is an encounter with Zygarde in its 10% form and a Zygarde Cube. With this cube in hand, players will be able to find Zygarde Cells, which we'll go over in this guide.

How to Get Zygarde Cells in Pokemon GO

As of the time of writing, the only way to get more Zygarde Cells is by taking advantage of the new Routes feature in Pokemon GO. While walking on a Route, there's a chance to find the glowing cells, as seen in the image above. It resembles a small shiny green-yellowish icon.

To create a new Route in Pokemon GO, players must choose a PokeStop or Gym and hit Record to start the path. Players will need to fill out some info, but once it's submitted and accepted, the Route can be traveled.

To explore a Route created by another player, head to the Nearby menu by pressing the icon underneath the magnifying glass on the home map screen. The tab on the far right will say Routes and show any nearby Routes that have been created. Players can choose the one that suits their needs.

It's worth noting that not every Pokemon GO player currently has permission to create Routes. The feature is still rolling out to players worldwide.

Those looking to complete the 'From A to Zygarde' Special Research will need to walk on three Routes, catch 20 Pokemon while walking on the Routes, and then find at least one Zygarde Cell for Step 4. Step 5 also has some Route-related tasks, so be prepared to test out the newly added feature quite a bit. By completing these tasks, though, trainers will get loads of rewards, like XP, Stardust, Poke Balls, and Berries.
