Beldum is a Steel/Psychic-type Pokemon that evolves into the powerful Metagross. While it's known in the community for its poor catch rate in mainline games, this is fortunately not the case in Pokemon GO. Beldum has been a part of Pokemon GO since 2018's "Hoenn Celebration" event, and Shiny Beldum joined the roster in the latter part of 2018. However, it's not a common Pokemon you'll see in the wild, making it difficult to Shiny Hunt. The "Ultra Unlock: Steel and Scales" event, held in July 2025, will have increased Beldum spawn rates. If you haven't caught a Shiny Beldum yet, now's your chance to do so before the event ends.
Pokemon GO: How To Get Spinda 1 (Can Spinda 1 Be Shiny?)
In Pokemon GO, Spinda can be acquired in several different form patterns. Players looking to obtain Spinda #1 can discover how to do so in this guide.
Where to Find Shiny Beldum
Ultra Unlock: Steel and Scales, July 2025
Steel/Psychic-type Beldum and its Shiny Form have a higher chance of appearing in the wild during "Ultra Unlock: Steel and Scales" event alongside the Dragon-type Bagon. As always, you should be selecting every Beldum that appears on your in-game map. You won't be able to tell it's Shiny until you've entered the encounter screen.
Since Pokemon encounters have a loading screen, you may want to turn off AR Mode while you're Shiny Hunting Beldum. This can be done via Settings or on the encounter screen itself (top-right corner).
Although Beldum will appear more often from July 22-27, 2025, there are ways to i ncrease its spawn rate. The first is to place a Magnetic Lure on a PokeStop. This will attract Steel-type Pokemon, meaning you may encounter other Pokemon, such as Magnemite.
Another method is to use Incense. This will draw Pokemon to you for a set amount of time, but be warned that if you're moving too fast, Pokemon lured by Daily Incense will have a 100% flee rate. Thus, it's generally recommended you use Daily Incense (or regular) when you're walking and not a passenger in a vehicle.
Keep in mind that Beldum is not a 1-star or 3-star Raid Boss for this event. You'll only find Shiny Beldum in wild encounters.
Pokemon GO: How To Get Shiny Bagon
Bagon will appear more in the wild during the Ultra Unlock: Steel and Scales event in Pokemon GO, so here's your chance to get its shiny form.
Should You Evolve Shiny Beldum?
How to Get Shiny Metang and Shiny Metagross
Shiny Beldum will evolve into Shiny Metang when it receives 25 Beldum Candy. To evolve Shiny Metang into Shiny Metagross, you'll need 100 Beldum Candy. You should evolve Shiny Beldum just to unlock Shiny Metang and Shiny Metagross' dex entries (shiny version). However, if you're intending to use a Shiny Metagross for Trainer Battles or Raids, then you should evolve a 3-star Shiny Beldum rather than a 0/1-star.
Steel/Psychic-typing means Metagross is weak to the following types:
- Ground
- Dark
- Ghost
- Fire
Metagross' moves in Pokemon GO are limited to Steel and Psychic-types except for Earthquake (Ground-type). Chances are your Shiny Metagross will have either Bullet Punch or Zen Headbutt as its Fast Attack, and Flash Cannon or Psychic as its Charged Attack. You can always change the Charged and Fast Attacks with the help of TMs.
