Along with the other legendary titans from the Hoenn region, Regirock has returned to Pokémon GO, the game that recently hit $3 Billion in earnings. Since Regirock is a level 5 Legendary Raid boss with 42768 Raid Boss CP, players will likely need at least 4 additional trainers by their side if they want to bag this Legendary Pokémon.
This Pokémon GO guide will cover Regirock’s move set and weaknesses, as well as the most effective counters.
Regirock’s assortment of moves features mostly Rock and Fighting type moves like Rock Throw and Rock Smash, in addition to his charge moves Stone Edge and Focus Blast, so picking counters is relatively straight forward. Regirock also has access to a Zap Cannon charge move, but his most lethal charge move is still the Focus Blast because it deals equal damage to most counters.

Metagross
With steel attacks like Bullet Punch for its fast move and Meter Mash for its charge move, Metagross can doll out damage quickly and will require fewer potions (even more so if matched against Stone Edge Regirock).
Swampert
Swampert’s resistance to Electric and Rock moves automatically makes the majority of Regirock’s arsenal much less dangerous. Additionally, Swampert’s charge move, Hydro Cannon, can deal a devastating blow to the rock titan in return.
Dialga
Like Swampert, Dialga’s resistance to Electric and Rock moves makes it an obvious choice as a counter. With the Metal Claw fast move and the Iron Head charge move under Dialga’s belt, Regirock can’t do much to defend against the vicious Steel attacks.
Kyogre
Although Kyogre’s weakness to Electric moves makes it particularly vulnerable to Regirock’s Zap Cannon, the damage that its Waterfall and Hydro Pump attacks inflict on Regirock more than make up for it.
Machamp
Another great Regirock counter would be Machamp because it takes reduced or neutral damage from most of Regirock’s attacks. Machamp’s Attack moves Counter and Dynamic Punch deal huge amounts of damage to the Legendary Pokémon.
Honorable Mention: Groudon
As an honorable mention, Groudon is particularly effective against Regirock with a “Sunny” weather boost considering that both its fast move, Mud Shot, and its charge move, Solar Beam, are enhanced.
Note: To catch a weather-boosted Regirock, trainers should raid during partly cloudy weather.
