Keeping track of your eggs and when they will hatch, whether they are a regular Egg or Legendary Raid Egg, is incredibly important in Pokemon GO. You might be the type who likes to go out on walks, but enjoy the surrounding scenery without having to constantly open up the entire app to check on your eggs. Luckily, there's a way you can do this.

Taking advantage of the Egg Hatching widget on your phone will allow you to check on your eggs and how much more walking you'll need to do before they hatch without having to open the game. This will help save you some additional time and effort, so you can quickly introduce your newly-hatched Pokemon.

Since each phone has different methods for creating widgets, we will start with any Android phone. Some might function slightly differently, but these are the basic instructions for how you can create an Egg Hatching widget on an Android phone.

  • Start by going to the home screen of your phone. Hold down on any blank area, and a blurred screen with some apps at the bottom should pop up.
  • At the bottom, choose the 'Widgets' icon.
  • You will then see a list of all the apps that offer widgets. Keep scrolling until you find 'Pokemon GO'.
  • Click the drop-down menu under 'Pokemon GO', and scroll until you find: 'Adventure Sync: Eggs'. Click on this, and then choose 'Add'.
  • The widget will then appear on your home screen, and you can hold down on it to move it around if you want.

As you begin to walk around, the Egg Hatching widget should update based on how much you have currently walked. This will also allow you to progressively hatch an egg without having to have the full app open, so you can easily get your brand-new Pokemon from any generation.
