Pokemon GO further increases its storage space, giving players added room for their items as well as creature storage. As a live service title, Pokemon GO continues to evolve through new updates, typically adding new creatures to catch, limited time events to take part in, as well as fresh seasonal content every few months.

With the continued appearance of new Pokemon as well as all the ways to earn items, storage capacity remains a major element in Pokemon GO. While players typically need to purchase storage upgrades, Niantic recently provided all Pokemon GO trainers with a free Item Bag expansion. As a token of appreciation for the community, players received 400 free spaces in their Item Bag as part of a new set of level-up rewards recently added to the game. As if that wasn't enough, Niantic just announced that the storage capacity limit has also been expanded as well.

Pokemon GO Increases Storage Capacity Even Further

In an unexpected and surprise move, Pokemon GO announced that it has further increased storage capacity for players. For storing Pokemon, the app has expanded the capacity limit by 650, now capping out at 11,150. Similarly, Niantic has also boosted Item Storage by 650, pushing the Item Bag limit all the way up to 10,500. With the added capacity, players can purchase storage upgrades in the Pokemon GO store by spending 200 Poke Coins to unlock another 50 slots.

Interestingly enough, this is the third big storage capacity upgrade Pokemon GO has seen so far in 2025. The previous Pokemon GO storage capacity increase came ahead of the annual Go Fest events in June. The move was appreciated by trainers as the Go Fest events typically feature a variety of Pokemon to capture, with some in special themed outfits to mark the occasion. This year also featured a three-part Ultra Unlock event alongside the reappearance of Zacian and Zamazenta in raids.

Pokemon GO Makes Change to Storage Limit

The storage upgrade will also likely come in handy during December's Community Day event in Pokemon GO. As the game has done in year's past, December Community Day will be a celebration of the entire year, with Saturday and Sunday bringing back all previously featured creatures in Pokemon GO for 2025. Karrablast, Shelmet, Vanillite, Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Pawmi will be appearing on December 6, while Solosis, Flabebe, Pikipek, Jangmo-o, Rookidee, and Quaxly will be spawning on Sunday, December 7.
