Ever since the mobile game launched in 2016, July has routinely been a very busy month for Pokemon GO players. With the combined celebrations of GO Fest and the game's ninth anniversary, this year has been demanding. There were so many limited-time tasks and goals earlier in the month that Pokemon GO's simplistic event page couldn't hold them all in a user-friendly way. Now that fans are making their way into the middle of the month, the augmented reality game is returning to its more relaxed pace for many players. Those who want to experience everything the game has to offer, though, have a very important day ahead.

Although there are fewer events to complete, Pokemon GO still has a number of special opportunities going on at the same time to match all kinds of players' skill levels and interests. The Water Festival is returning and bringing Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Tatsugiri with it, and that coincides with the Summer Concert event that will celebrate the franchise's music. Both events will come to a new height on July 19, right as Gigantamax Lapras will take center stage and be available in Max Battles for a few hours.

Why Pokemon GO Fans Will be Busy From Afternoon to Night On July 19

Pokemon GO Fans Have a Small Window to Get Gigantamax Lapras

Currently, players can take advantage of Timed Research to obtain a Dynamax Passimian, candy, and Max Particles to warm players up to the arrival of Gigantamax Lapras. Through Lapras' powerful songs as a Gigantamax Water-type Pokemon, its appearance is a great "boss battle" of sorts to tie the Water Festival and the Summer Concert together. The only problem is that the current Timed Research is to build up to the fact that Gigantamax Lapras will only be available from 2 PM to 5 PM local time on July 19. After the fighting is done, however, they might want to stick around on Pokemon GO a little bit longer as 5 PM marks the start of the Summer Concert event.

Special In-Game Music Will Accompany Pokemon GO Players While They Hunt For Chatot

At 5 PM local time, Gigantamax Lapras' Max Battles will be replaced by special music and a chance to capture a Southern Hemisphere-exclusive Pokemon, Chatot. Unlike Lapras, the Summer Concert will start on July 19 and end July 22, occurring each day from 5 PM through 8 PM. Fans might have extra time to enjoy the Summer Concert bonuses, but some players may want to make an entire day out of the two events for convenience. It's hard to argue staying out a bit later, especially since the special background music is said to be a selection made by Junichi Masuda himself.

Both of these events coincide wonderfully with the Water Festival, which means players will get candy bonuses for nice throws or higher, increased chances of finding a Shiny Staryu and Shiny Tirtouga in the wild, and other bonuses that make the next few days a great time for fans of Water-type Pokemon. After Gigantamax Lapras leaves, Quaxly Community Day follows the very next day, giving players the chance to obtain a shiny duck friend for their collections.

Many of the events currently planned for Pokemon GO end on July 22, which is interestingly the same day as a Pokemon Presents presentation. It's likely that some news about future events in-game will be announced as part of it. The Pokemon Presents showcase is usually used for big reveals like Pokedex expansions in Pokemon GO, so maybe this could mark the addition of Paradox Pokemon. Either way, there's always some sort of surprise around the corner in Pokemon GO, so fans should stay tuned to the official channels for further information.
