Pokemon GO has revealed new leveling rewards coming to the game on October 15. Additionally, the leveling system for Pokemon GO is getting some changes, including increasing the Trainer level cap to 80. The aim of these alterations is to make progressing through the game faster and more rewarding.
One of the goals for many Pokemon GO players is to achieve the maximum level. While reaching the Trainer cap is no small feat, there are numerous ways for players to gain XP, including catching Pokemon and hatching eggs. Furthermore, the game often hosts events that include new opportunities to level up. With the game being over nine years old, some players have managed to reach level 50. However, the developer is looking to keep the grind going for the community.

Pokemon GO Increases Trainer Level Cap
Starting on October 15, Pokemon GO will increase the Trainer level cap from 50 to 80, giving players more levels to earn in the game. This is part of a larger revamping of the level system, allowing players to progress more easily and earn rewards more often. Some of the new leveling rewards offer increased storage capacity in Pokemon GO. New avatar rewards will also be added at various levels. These new avatar rewards begin to unlock at level 25 and feature pieces of clothing that players can use to customize their in-game Trainer.

Besides new level rewards, the free Daily Adventure Egg is being added, giving players another way to gain XP in Pokemon GO. As the name suggests, players will automatically get a Daily Adventure Egg after logging in at the start of a new day. The egg hatches after a distance of 1km and grants 10,000 XP. It is worth noting that players must be level 15 or higher and only one Daily Adventure Egg can be incubated at a time. Pokemon GO is also making it easier for players at level 70 or above to become Lucky Friends if they are already Best Friends.
Since Pokemon GO is adjusting the leveling curve, the amount of XP needed for various milestones is changing. According to the developer, 203,353,000 XP will be required to reach the new level 80 Trainer cap. Furthermore, players will no longer have to do the Level-Up Research tasks for levels 41 to 50 starting on October 15. Instead, there will now be Level-Up Research tasks for levels 71 through 80. It will be interesting to see how these changes impact players' accounts, as the developer noted that “all the XP you’ve earned so far will be applied to the rebalanced leveling curve to determine your new Trainer level.” Fortunately, no one will see their level decrease, with all players level 23 or higher guaranteed an increase.

As players prepare for these new changes to the level system to take effect, October is already shaping up to be an exciting time for the game. Specifically, the Harvest Festival is ongoing until October 16, and the first part of the Halloween 2025 event for Pokemon GO begins on October 21, bringing Poltchageist and Sinistcha to the game. Additionally, the Pokemon Legends: Z-A Celebration Event starts on October 16, corresponding to the release of the new game for Switch and Switch 2. Hopefully, these and other events will provide players with more opportunities to earn the XP they need to level up their Trainers.
