Although Pokemon GO's latest update started rolling out yesterday for most players, there has been some major confusion about one of the new features introduced in the patch. Lucky Pokemon are included in the patch notes and scheduled to arrive with the update, but the feature isn't actually live yet.

As you might expect, this confusion has some trainers very upset. Players started trading very old Pokemon after installing the update, with the hope that they might trigger a Lucky Pokemon for the first time, but so far nobody has had any luck. After questions started pouring in, Niantic has responded and explained the Lucky Pokemon won't go live until the patch has been rolled out to all users.

Here's an update...

Although Pokemon GO has come a long way in terms of communicating with its players, this is another example of things not being quite clear enough the first time around. The initial announced led many players to believe that the feature would be available immediately after installing the update and, since each Pokemon can only be traded once, now players have wasted some great opportunities for Lucky Pokemon.

We highly recommend holding off on trades until the feature has been confirmed live, if you're aiming for a Lucky. Check back for updates and we'll be sure to update this post once the feature is live.

Until then, good luck out there, trainers!

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
