Pokemon GO has revealed that Pawmi will be the featured Pokemon for May 2025's Community Day. The Gen 9 monster made its debut in Pokemon GO in 2023, but this is the first time Pawmi stars in this type of event.
Every month, Pokemon GO launches a Community Day event with a particular Pokemon as the protagonist. Some of 2025's Community Days have featured some fan-favorite Pokemon like Fuecoco and Sprigatito, as well as some hard-to-find monsters like Shelmet. However, Pokemon GO players disliked the last Vanillite Community Day, as it isn't the most popular critter in the Pokedex. Now, the developers have revealed their plans for the event's upcoming May edition.
Pokemon GO Reveals New Team Rocket Event With Shadow Dialga
Developer Niantic announces a new Pokemon GO Team Rocket event featuring Shadow Dialga, bringing plenty of exciting activities for players.
Pokemon GO has confirmed that the next Community Day event will be on Sunday, May 11, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time and will star the Paldean monster Pawmi. The event will debut shiny Pawmi as well, and some bonuses will help players register Pawmi's evolutions in their Pokedex. For example, during the event, players can evolve Pawmo into Pawmot after walking 1 km with it as their Buddy. Normally, evolving Pawmo in Pokemon GO requires exploring 25 km as buddies. Moreover, if players evolve their Pawmo in the week following the event, they can obtain a Pawmot that knows the Charged Attack Brick Break. Finally, Pokemon GO will launch a week-long Timed Research that grants a Pawmi with a special background.

Other limited bonuses include double the candy for catching Pokemon and a quarter distance for hatching eggs. It takes 125 Candies to fully evolve Pawmi, so players should seize the opportunity to catch as many copies of the Electric-type as they can. Participating in the Community Day might also help players claim more rewards from Pokemon GO's May GO Pass, like Poke Balls and an encounter with Yveltal.
May will be a busy month for Pokemon GO players, as it will be packed with limited events. Before Pawmi's Community Day, Pokemon GO will hold a Baby Pokemon event featuring famous monsters like Riolu and Swablu. A Community Day Classic is also scheduled for May 24, but players will have to wait to know which Pokemon will be featured.
